Royal Oak in Bolsover

Went for a cavery. The food was nice just that the veg was kept warm in water so my meal was swimming

Really disappointed this time, I booked a table for 2:30 pm. We ordered our drinks at the bar, all was fine. We sat down at our table, and after 45 minutes, I had to ask a member of staff if we could go and get our food, she said that she would come and tell us when she was ready, THERE WAS NO ONE STOOD at the carvery? I explained to the young girl that I was a Type 1 Diabetic and that my sugar level was dangerously low, as I had gone past my lunch hour as it was now 3:15, and she told me again to be seated and she would let me know when I could get my food... There was Still no one at the carvery, so I went ahead and started to serve myself some food and sat down and ate my Sunday roast, which was fine. After we had finished our meal no one at all came to our table to clear our dirty plates, or offer us any dessert or coffee menu, so at this point we were furious at the level of service that we asked for the bill, paid and left. The young girl was so not interested in her job and totally ruined my friends birthday which I had taken him there as I had recommended this place to go to, as I've always loved the Sunday roasts. I will never return.

Had Sunday carvery couldn't fault any part of the experience, food good staff good tables clean good price. So all GOOD.

Good seating arrangement and pleasant surrounding. Excellent carvery meat choices and very generous portions for mains and desserts. If I had one personal criticism I dont particularly like my vegetables floating in hot water as they are fairly tasteless. However I would return and recommend.

Good cavery on a Sunday. Choice of 4 meats. Good selection of hot and cold desserts. We all enjoyed our food and drinks.

The Royal Oaks food is always excellent. The “Early Bird” menu represents some of the greatest value food around locally… perfectly proportioned meals from a limited but delicious menu served by friendly attentive staff … a great place to dine
