Disappointed to say the least. Not even taken our coats off and managed to sit down before we were asked what we wanted to order! Asked if we could have a few minutes, just sat and the waitress was back again!Order 2 small fish and chips and two teas.Teas arrived in mugs with tea stains down the sides. The cutlery looked like it hadn't even been washed, the replacements were marginally better but needed a good wipe!We both left a good portion of the chips, fish left much to be desired and we left half of this too.Very disappointed with the whole dining experience and wouldn't come back here if we were in the area again.

Totally disappointed with the awful quality of the Haddock and Chips that I was served with.... It appeared to be more of an off cut that should of been thrown away, its Skin was thick and I struggled to cut it and it was more Batter and skin than actual Fish fillet.... When commenting on the poor quality whilst paying the bill we were told that all Haddock is like that..... Sorry but we won't be coming back if all your Haddock is such poor quality.

I used to love going into Tates, the male members of staff are always super friendly and upbeat but it seems to have really gone downhill since they hired a few young women who work there now. The women walk into each other repeatedly and seem to be generally confused about what they’re doing. Paid £5.50 for cod bites which was supposed to come with chips and a fruit shoot but only came as it was and nothing else. I didn’t bother to rectify this at the time because the blonde haired woman who served me did not seem friendly to say the least. She snapped at several customers whilst I was waiting to be served and even mouthed insults under her breath when customers weren’t looking. She is obviously really unhappy to work there and it shows. What a traumatic ordeal the whole thing was from start to finish.

Their fish and chips were hot and delicious

Used to be happy now received wrong order, I asked for 2 cods and 1 large chips, and i asked for the chips and cod to be separate so they don’t get soggy… I received 3 large portions of chips and 2 cods on top of the chips…. Soggy chips are not nice. Guys please write down exactly what customer is saying. Chips and fish need to be crispy, when the fish is on top of the chips during delivery all crispiness is lost…

Nipped into here for some chips, the food was great. The customer care was fantastic. One thing I did notice is that one of the workers there gave my son (18months) a fruit shoot and he removed the plastic cap on the top before giving it to him, this was really good to see as some places don't do that. I can't praise them enough on how helpful they are there. Definitely worth a visit and we shall be returning again.

A shop with history which still has plenty of customers using the down stairs. Large and and chips were cooked well and tasted good. Plenty of photos in the building of people, staff that have worked here over the years. Enjoyed our afternoon lunch there.

Heard about this place for a long time best fish and chips with homemade mushy peas. Fish is fresh and batter is light and crunchy. Went there in Saturday afternoon waiting time is less than 5 mins. Amazing!

Service was very friendly and efficient. I had fish and chips that were £6 with a drink thrown in. Obviously a smaller portion, but sometimes with fish and chips that’s not a bad thing. Chips could have been a little hotter, but in all very good. There is a desert menu too, but I didn’t have room for that.
