My friends and I were in the area walking and came on the Pub by accident we weren't staying, just stopped for lunch. Beer excellent, in quality and price. Landlord and staff so helpful and friendly.

Stopped at this fantastic little pub Saturday night...the cosy atmosphere and friendliness of the staff and customers was refreshing. The food was excellent just proper food not mass produced chain stuff. The room was huge and comfortable, also it was very clean. In the morning the breakfast was great and lovely start to the day....

The best Sunday lunch I've ever had, see my photo for the proof. Today the Sunday lunch was airing towards a Christmas dinner, and I even ate the brussel sprouts.

Great b&b! Rooms are fine, beer and food great value. Hosts are good fun. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Easy bus ride into Nottingham 👍

We visited on Sunday having pre-booked a table since we know it gets busy. The server at the bar was very rude, she said I wasn't hear when it was booked, why on earth would that make a difference I don't know. There was no table reserved and instead of saying how long this would be she looked past us and asked the people behind us what drinks we wanted. They were rude enough to carry on, so we just left for a different pub, we won't be returning to this pub again! Not sure what happened to customer service, maybe she hasn't worked in the service industry before but there is no excuse for rudeness.

5 stars for exactly what is expected from a "proper pub", welcoming staff, good atmosphere, great jukebox, friendly locals (with the odd eccentric thrown in for good measure), spot on prices, old school decor and a decent cheap food menu.

Lovely big clean room. Very friendly staff and the steak pie was amazing. Very decent pint of bitter and a very good full English. Close to M1 so convenient and enjoyable stop off point to break a journey.

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast dinner today! All really well cooked. And lots of tasty gravy! Followed by Treacle Sponge and custard. Kimberley Best Bitter was beautiful. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We'll be back for more! But really need to replace the missing letters on the pub sign! But maybe the 'ON A AY' will catch on?!😁

Nice old pub, food nice. No lights in carpark and night (when we was there) one car on jacks with no wheels, this was a bit concerning.Friends had booked to stay overnight, no water in room due to mains water problem. But no bottle water for guests and no effort made to get them any. Disappointed in this when friends came a long way to meet us.
