George's Tradition in Charnwood

Fish and chips from this place are generally OK. Was sorry to see they no longer stocked Fentiman's when I last went in. Usually cooked to order and in reasonably sized portions, even on the smaller options.

Great fish and chips freshly cooked and can do an unbattered fish in rice flower too. Gr8.

Prices go up Quality goes down and 4 girls seem to like working in a chaotic way. Chips are so easy to get right but equally to get wrong. Why can't chip shops offer crispy/crunchy chips instead of routinely soft unappealing steamed lumps in a box that don't separate 🤔? Additionally what is the meat % content of the sausages? They charge top dollar but offer cheap rubbish. Sorry to be negative but people deserve simple food to at least be something to enjoy.

Gone downhill in my experience, very disappointed!! Fish was very small and they no longer give you a slice of lemon or homemade tartar sauce, just packet premade stuff. It's no longer a cut above but now just the same as every other chip shop but more expensive.

I go to George's in Loughborough for fish and chips roughly once a week. The food is normally wonderful, some of the best cooked fish and chips I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot lol). Unfortunately, tonight was a real disappointment. I paid for a large fish, and although really nicely cooked, it was just the same size as the fish I normally get when I don’t “go large”. The chips were hard and undercooked and worst of all the curry sauce was tasteless and had had the consistency of lumpy water. I feel a bit bad about only writing a review when things are not good and not on the many occasions when the food has been excellent, but I also feel fairly bad about wasting the best part of £10 on a really disappointing meal….hope it’s just a blip.

I've given it a 1 because I can't give it 0Do not use Uber eats or George's Tradition Fish & Chip Shop after waiting for an hour for our tea [15 mins past promised delivery time] I rang the shop to be told the order had been cancelled, we had no notification of this. So I ask how can we order over the phone? yes but only if we collect ,as we are covid'd up that was not an option.TOTALLY UNIMPRESSED by 'service' no sorry this has messed up !!!went elsewhere got it nice and quickly nice and hot £7 cheaper for the same order but mainly IT TURNED UP

So decided to treat the family and have a George’s as always the food was great but what the hell has happened to the portion sizes!So £8.65 for a small cod and chips (the single piece of fish) or £5.25 for the Junior fish meal ( 2 bit of fish). I’ll let you judge what is value for money!

Nice meal.. you can have a small large, a large small, an 85p upgrade on any meal, presumably the large and the small. Oh and every meal comes with a small chips, presumably the large ones as well? 🤷🏻‍♂️

portions are sometimes little small but the homemade fishcake is really good from here tastes fresh and full of flavour would recommend people to go here :)

Small fish and chips? Looks more like a battered sausage!Not been here since lockdown as they messed my order up but put it down to covid and getting used to new ways but after recieving this tonight i definately wont be returning!
