The Blue Bell Inn in Charnwood

A friend and I regularly travel to meet here, and it's more than worth the 40-minute drive. The friendly, welcoming staff and the cosy vibe are the true highlights, but the food is excellent too - top-end, modern pub grub that is levels above bigger chains.Well worth the trip for either a special occasion or a catch up.

Id give it a 3. Good service. Good food. However the venue was slightly loud for my tastes. Would come again just at a less busy time.

Lovely village pub, very friendly staff, country feel. Fabulous menu. However I had blade of beef, but when it arrived the meat was shredded and moulded, tasted really nice, but not at all what I expected.

Very poor dining experience.Negative experience started with the booking. It was for a birthday party and I was told we would have to be out by 7:30 sharp as there is a staff party they are eager to close for. They even went as far as to call me on the day and asked if we could arrive 30 minutes earlier so we could leave earlier. Very unprofessional.After arriving we ordered drinks and were then told they had run out of chicken. We were told that this would be replaced with extra beef, which it wasn't, despite still being charged the £3 supplement.The entire food service was so rushed that the dining staff literally spilled gravy on us, they were that eager to get us out the door.The food itself was really bad. Never been Catfished by a menu before. That may sound dramatic but believe me, what is on the menu is not what you are served. Never before have I seen a chorizo disk sized piece of stuffing and I never want to again. It had to have been the lowest amount they were allowed to serve whilst legally keeping it on the menu.The rest of the food was the at the same standard, bland pork, cardboard like roast potatoes and sauces missing from the plate. Cauliflower Cheese was really nice though.All in all the kitchen staff should be embarrassed by what they let out for service. The front of house staff let themselves down by constantly harassing us into leaving as soon as possible. If you take the booking you should maintain the same standard of service.Needless to say I will never be returning and hope this helps others.

Excellent visit today for lunch. Food was superb and atmosphere great in this gastro pub.Member of staff working in the bar and lounge was very personable and friendly.Will certainly be returning with my family soon to experience other dishes on the menu.A place worth trying- you will not be disappointed.

Came here for a pre Christmas works dinner. And it was very hospitable.Beautiful fresh and homemade pizza from the pizza oven. Plenty of choice too. Colleague had the mac and cheese which also hit the spot.Plenty of space in the dining room early but got busier which kind of made sense based on the number of staff.Good drinks selection too, with real ale, ipa and hipster beer all satisfying that Christmas spirit need for me

Went here for a nice 3 course Sunday lunch. Was nice and the cauliflower cheese was amazing...but could of done with another Yorkshire Pudding, and the roast potatoes were rather disappointing.

The chateaubriand steak was cooked to perfection. Sides were exquisitely prepared. The staff were polite, attentive and hospitable.

A very nice restaurant with a wonderful spirit and good service. I eat a fish and chips which was the best around I get for now in the area but get a look at the other 2 dishes. I am still on the way for my journey to all restaurants around. See lovely photos of the area and the food.
