Escaped to here after making a grave error of booking an awful hotel on the A46 (never go the OYO)!Was welcomed by a couple of regulars propping up the bar. The banter was good and the atmosphere inclusive and friendly.I went for the steak and Stilton pie for scran and it was the right decision. Full of filling and flavour and the chips and peas were spot on too. If I could ask for anything more, it'd be a bigger gravy pot.Had a guest bitter with dinner, which was decent.

Found this pub after dropping my daughter at brooksby college. It was so lovely, staff were very polite and helpful, food was really nice and fresh, especially loved the garlic mash!Would definitely recommend, I was happy with the choices on the menu. We would definitely go back if in the area.Thank you :)

We were the only people in there having a meal, the staff were friendly but the food was basic

Group of 6 went here for an evening as staying in nearby hotel.The pub has recently opened with new owners so its only running a small menu. We had the blue lion burgers which were locally produced bison burgers and myself being a vegetarian had the vegan version. Fantastic burgers all round. Plus great service. So much we came back the next day and had bacon baps to cure us of our hangovers from the drinking the night before. Again fantastic for me as a delicious vegan bacon bap was available.Can't wait to come back to try more when they have a bigger menu.

Lovely pub with great charm and atmosphere staff polite and friendly, just taken over by new landlady so menu a little limited but was very tasty and local , good selection of beers wine and spirits at reasonable prices. Had a very pleasant even and will definitely be coming back .

New landlord, with good customer care and beers kept well. No food other than snacks, but kitchen to be opened when refurbished. Small car parking area in front of the pub.

Lovely cosy, friendly, family pub,. Food although limited choices, is cooked to perfection, presented nicely and reasonably priced, steak was tender, gammon had no gristle, mushroom and cheddar cottage pie is so tasty and filling, the fish and chips were awesome, perfect batter, properly cooked chips, and homemade mushy peas. Beautiful deserts, and decent portions. A great selection of Gins, and not expensive. Sunday lunch was perfect, not your run of the mill carvery style, a little more up market, and delicious. Friendly helpful bar staff, warm welcoming smiles. Love this place and can’t wsit till the summer to sit out in the lovely beer garden x

Lovely old fashioned pub have been before but not since the takeover- we popped in for lunch the menu limited and no lunch menu offered so its obviously for evening too. Starters and deserts not priced! We chose liver it was described on the menu as 'lambs liver and onions with smoked bacon mash and buttered cabbage..unfortunately it wasnt as good as it sounded- presentation was nice liver was thinly sliced and reformed on top of mash with caramelized onions on top..no evidence of bacon, no buttered cabbage instead there was 4 small florets of broccoli and no apology or explanation! The liver was overcooked and rubbery the mash was nice -considering how cheap liver is it was overpriced and disappointing- it also took quite a while which was confusing as we were the only people eating.
