The Boat Inn in Charnwood

We liked the pub a lot! A wonderful place for a beer or two after work by the river. One would say one is back to the past. Lovely!

Owners and staff excellent, I must recommend the food, it was cooked to perfection pictures to follow..A medium rare cooked rump steak. very clean and very very reasonably priced for drinks and food. Five star definitely and it's so nice to have a warming welcome,as we never have been before,Thank you, will definitely be back 💯💕💕

Service was slapdash at best, probably better described as dismissive. When ordering food and drink you have to pay separately via two different credit card devices as they are 'separate businesses'. I chose sausage and mash, described on the menu as 'three sausages' and I only got two. My wife chose the Boat Inn Burger and didn't get the three onion rings detailed on the menu. We had to ask twice for sauces and they only had two teeny sachets of vinegar in the building apparently. Or they just couldn't be bothered getting more. They never came over and asked if everything was OK and when my wife went to order the woman behind the bar carried on her phone conversation for some time before hanging up and didn't apologise or once acknowledge she knew she was waiting. On top of that, the manager came in wailing about the fact we'd parked in her space. There are no signs on the space we were in - it was next to it. Needless to say we didn't bother complaining about the missing food as it would no doubt fall on deaf ears. Shame as its a nice location and the food was hot and tasty.

Nice pub on the river friendly staff.(Be careful to register your car if you park there).

This is a beautiful spot to sit outside watching the boats go by on the canal enjoying the sun with a pint and a sandwich! I could have stayed all day!I had scampi, it was perfect. Will definitely go again when I'm passing. The managers are really nice and contrary to some other feedback I didn't find a problem with the parking at all... it's clearly marked and easy to sort.

Parking Scam. If you go to this pub walk! Parked for a quick drink after work, no one at the pub told us about the new car parking measures. Been fined, even though I showed the company my receipt.Edit. 03/05/22 - Responce back to the owner. I have already spoken to the pub before I paid my fine. The pub refused to help and basically said it was my own fault and that they couldn't help me. They said all I could do was appeal the fine, through the park fine company. Terrible service - will not be back

No signpost to advise that it was permit holders only, clearly signed on the wall customer parking only!We came from Leicester to spend day in Loughborough seen the Boat Inn and thought it was okay, when we went inside the atmosphere wasn’t great we stood at the bar for a few minutes no one came to serve us so we left, max stay was under 15 minutes and week later we received a fine in the post! Definitely do not recommend this place if you are looking to spend extra on a fine!!!!!!We both came in our own cars has my friend came from Nottingam. Definitely won’t be coming to Loughborough any time soon!

Had a great afternoon here with the family. Excellent service, very friendly and great food all at affordable prices. Keep up the good work 👍

Parking scam - apparently a permit is needed for the clearly signposted carpark. I stayed for half an hour and received a £100 ticket in the mail a week later. No mention of a permit by the staff inside the pub, despite mentioning that I had driven to get there. Atmosphere was off and the pint was nothing special - avoid
