The Devonshire Arms in Chesterfield

Stopped here for lunch to break a long car journey. Turned out to be a very good choice - friendly, very good food. Very reasonably priced too! We'll call again next time we set off on our travels.

Good pub grub for a reasonable price, had the braising steak and thoroughly enjoyed it. Knocked a star off because it's cash only, even i take card payments in the middle of a field on Tansley Sunday market

It was just OK.Be aware, on Sundays, they offer a carvery only, which was fine.Also note, cash only. No plastic taken.

I had the roast of the day. It arrived an hour after we got in. The gravy was Stone cold. Took it back to be bought another one which was TASTELESS all apart from the beef which was good. ( that was all I ate) ordered the pudding which took another 20 minutes. I had rhubarb crumble and custard which was very nice. My friend had apple pie and ice cream which had green like mold around the crust. Left at 2.30 from goin in at 12.30. (Booked at that! ) I feel like I'd been robbed! Never ever again

Friendly atmosphere. Good host very good food. Worth a visit.
