I ordered a burger and then moved seats to indoors because it got cold. When I tried to tell the barmaid behind the bar, she was pretty rude and dismissed me, rudely snapping that she was serving someone else (she was pulling a pint right in front of me in silence, I just wanted to tell her I had moved and she knew that because by that point I had said it out loud to her, but she just refused to acknowledge me) Anyway, I waited for her to finish serving so I could tell her properly that I had moved seats, but she then started taking another customers order instead, and completely blanked me like I was a piece of s**t. It was just rude and awkward. The burger I ordered was around ÂŁ10, which I thought was pretty expensive for a pub like this, but I was pretty hungry. I waited about 50 minutes and my burger finally came. It was massively over cooked - inedible really, and pretty badly put together - so after two bites I left it. I was gonna say something when they took my plate, but they took it when I went outside for a cigarette. My friends who were with me did mention the burger was over cooked - and were ignored when she walked off with the plate. This would be a one star review but the waitress who gave me condiments and cutlery seemed quite polite and helpful.

Nicely redecorated but food wasn't up to usual standard. Is it new people ?However the young lady who was serving and on the bar was very good. We were a large party and she seemed to be doing everything except cook on her own. Well done to her. Hoping it's just teething troubles .

Today we went for Christmas dinner at The George. We were booked in for 4pm. We were served our first course at 5:30pm by 6:45 we still hadn’t had our main, other tables were finished and others like us still waiting. We asked for the children on our table to be served now as they were so hungry, us adults were willing to wait. Bearing in mind we’d been told to get there from 3pm onwards, we arrived at 3:45pm. So after spending a lot of money at the bar and the children on our table filling up on sweets and crisps, and asking repeatedly for the children to be served their dinner, 2 of the children were given a dinner while two weren’t. We left at 7:15pm after the children picked at a dinner they said wasn’t nice. The table next to us complained and were offered free drinks and served immediately. They then left without paying. All we asked was for the children on our table to be fed. We didn’t complain or kick up a fuss, we just wanted our children feeding. The waitresses worked so hard and it was non stop for them. The blame for this lies with management. If they were struggling they could have come out and spoken to everyone there. Instead of leaving everyone waiting. Children bored hungry and frustrated. We all paid a £20 deposit deposit totalling £240. When we left we asked for it back we were given £80 back. So we paid £160 for 12 starters that’s £13.33 each for 10 bowls of soup one of which had a half dissolved oxo cube in. A prawn cocktail and a liver pate.We were so looking forward to a family Christmas dinner and all of us left feeling let down and disappointed. We spent our Christmas afternoon / evening waiting to be fed. What upset me most was my children not getting any dinner.Like I said the waitresses worked very hard and done their best. It’s a shame management couldn’t have shown a bit of support and connected with their customers. I wouldn’t recommend The George at all.

Our family Xmas meal was booked for yesterday. We paid a ÂŁ20 deposit for each person including children total of 13 we arrive as requested at 4pm to be keep waiting till 5.30ish for our starters and after 7.30 still no main meal. The organisation was terrible our children were hungry and bored so as a family we left with no Christmas Dinner. We did get ÂŁ80 of deposit back but that was an insult rather than compensation the manager still made ÂŁ180 for 13 starters totally disgusting would not recommend to any body.

Had such a good time at the George on xmas day, food was absolutely gorgeous and plenty of it, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, the whole place was full of festive cheer... will definitely be returning🙂

The landlord was certainly helpful and couldn’t do enough for me. The room was newly decorated and was lovely. Homely yet modern twist. I didn’t stay for food as I was on a tight schedule, but the restaurant looked spotless. I’ll be returning.

Great food at a very reasonable price, served by friendly staff. Nice and airy space which under current climate is appreciated. Will DEFINITELY be going back and highly recommended 5 *****
