The Countryman in Daventry

Popped in here last minute after being let down elsewhere. Lovely place, very welcoming. Being gluten free I was very impressed with the menu, they actually had 3 options for me just on the starters menu alone! The food was beautiful. The roll I was given with my soup was so good I had to double check that it actually was gluten free! Just amazing! I was told it was and also that they are made fresh in house! Hats off to the chef! I had steak for main which again was perfect and I had the option of all the sauces! They even have gluten free pudding options that aren't just ice cream or chocolate brownie! I definitely will be telling everyone about this place and will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We are staying in the area for a few days, and are so pleased we found this gem of a pub. The staff were so friendly ( the Landlord, Chef & our server Sam) , and took time to advise on food menu & drinks choices, and made us feel as welcome as any regular. The food was out of this world, fresh home cooked produce, hot, & very tasty. So good we have booked again for tonight. Highly recommend this characterful pub.

Excellent village pub with great food. If you're staying at the Staverton nearby make the effort to visit, you won't be disappointed.

We had a good meal from a varied menu and enjoyed friendly and efficient service.

My wife and I stopped in without a booking but were found a table immediately. Ordered 2 chicken options on the Sunday Lunch. The food was served quickly and it was all freshly made with quality ingredients. Generous portions as well.Looking forward to returning soon.

Didn't feel welcome here. Gratuity also added to the bill automatically. Always happy to leave a tip if service warrants it, but it should not be taken for granted. We won't go back.

Delicious!Met a friend here for Sunday lunch as it was a halfway point between us and we’ll definitely be back. There’s ample parking, an out door seating area, restaurant and bar area.We ate in the bar area as we had a dog with us, it was quiet cosy and welcoming. The roast beef Sunday lunch was lovely and the meat was cooked to our preference. At £14.50 and one of the cheaper meals on the menu it’s on the pricey side but worth the money. Sticky toffee pudding was a real treat.
