The Forge in Derby

First time eating here....had chicken wings and chilli prawns for starters. The chicken wings were delicious and one single portion is enough for two to share to be honest. Unfortunately the prawns were a little overcooked so a bit rubbery but the sauce was good. Having never had one before, we shared a Chateau Briand. It was a great food experience with the hot stone and slicing the rare meat up which you then cook to your taste, and it was delicious, though some seasoning wouldn't have gone amiss. We would have preferred fries (be great if you could have a choice) rather than the thick cut wedges and a bit more than what seemed like a teaspoon of coleslaw. The salad garnish was nice and fresh as was the giant mushroom that also comes on the side. Perhaps a little overpriced as a dish but it is a good chunk of meat that is very tender. If you choose to have this I would suggest sharing a starter as it was very filling and we couldn't finish it all. The only critique we really had was the length of time waiting for drinks and the toilets were untidy with paper all over the floor.

A different way to eating steak, comes on a hot rock undercooked so that you can cook it to your preference, the rock stays very hot throughout your meal so no worries of cold food.super selection of different steaks, attentive staff happy to help and guide if your unsure of anything, also offers seafood and chicken options

The only positives about this place is the quiet courtyard setting and the folks on the bar.How can you expect customers to cook their own steak (completely unseasoned at that) and still charge top dollar. It's laziness disguised as a 'quirk' to save time in the kitchen and chuck as many meals out as fast as possible. Service was okay.

Went for my sons 12th birthday because has a steak lover and he loved it, great service, fantastic food, outstanding value for money. We will be definitely going back. Really have to recommend the beef dripping and accompany your steak it's to die for.

Had another great night at the Forge, party of 16 and all the staff were amazing from start to finish.Food was excellent, all meals arrived promptly, a credit to Sammy who runs the restaurant brilliantly.If you are looking for an amazing Steak, great atmosphere, be sure to pay the Forge a visit.Certainly won’t be long before we make a return visit👍

BEST!! The Forge Steak House is definitely the best place I’ve ever been for a steak! It was amazing. Never tasted steak like it in my life. Was nice and busy and the food still came out quick. Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere and nice cocktails 😍 we will be definitely be returning as the menu was fantastic. The staff were great and I will be recommending the forge steak house at anytime. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

We have had an incredible night at the forge in derby ! The kids being 10 and 14 loved it ! Me being a bbq and meat addict loved it ! The whole idea of being able to watch your 16oz steak cook it’s self on a 450 degree hot rock it amazing ! Bathing in the smell and the smoke of the meat cooking was amazing ! Staff were incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble ! Thanks guys And girls ! See you again soon

Great steaks, really enjoyed the meal. In fact it is five star place but unfortunately the service lets it down so much. If this was a standard restaurant/ steakhouse I would have given it just 2 stars all due to the poor service. You cannot fault the food but the waitresses are more in interested in gossiping at the till point than checking there customers.

The problem is they dont give you any space to remove the steak from the hot rock so it just keeps cooking and cooking. From the moment they serve you the steak it is already placed on the hot rock and cooking, so if you like your steak medium rare like me then you have to act real quick to cut it into slices and make space somewhere (mine was on top of the chip) to remove the pieces so they dont over cook. Very annoying. Even finding this place was a nightmare. Kept going round and round until finally we found the tiniest sign with the restaurant name. Service was a bit slow but the staff themselves were freindly. If you like your drinks from a can or glass bottle, then you need to mention this otherwise its from the tap. Atmosphere was nice.

Wow! Superb steaks in the historical Blacksmiths Yard within the fashionable Sadler Gate area. The steaks are served on a 440 degrees C stone, so far so trendy, through there is a valid reason for this, when you slice your steak you can then cook it to how you prefer. Good range of drinks, mainly lagers wines and gin. Service is excellent and friendly. Definitely returning 😁. M
