The Shalimar in Derby

Fantastic food, atmosphere and service. 10 out of 10! Would recommend and will come back again.

Amazing impromptu booking for my wife's Birthday. We had eaten fairly regularly at the old Shalimar restaurant many years ago and were greeted like old friends by Jimmy who remembered us for when we worked at a nearby hotel across the road from them. The presentation, food and service was outstanding and fully deserves the 5 stars I have rated them. It may have been the first time I had eaten at Shalimar Gold but it certainly won't be the last. We'll done to Jimmy and his team. Many thanks.

We haven't been to Shalimar Gold for few years but used to visit regularly. I have to say I was not impressed and will not be returning. The prices are extortionate and whilst you don't mind paying more for top quality, this was not the case.We shared a bottle of wine and had just a main curry each with rice and naan bread, it came to £95! The food was no better than our local takeaway. We were overcharged by £10 but didn't notice this until after we paid. We didn't leave a tip, which didn't go down well at all as the water pretty much through the receipt at us and stormed off. The waiters were full of chat to the other table next to us that had obviously tipped. I do usually tip when eating out, however, the food and pricing and food was not deserving of a tip. I spent most of the time shivering and had to ask twice for the main door to be closed.Will we be returning...absolutely not. Couldn't get out of there fast enough after the rudeness from the waiter. Same as it was a birthday treat.

My Son and I needed a bite to eat on route from London to St Georges Park. It looked good from the outside so we came in. The decor was great and very “living room”. Waiter was very attentive. The food was good and hit the spot. My only concern is that it is very pricey. £40/head without drinks. However we enjoyed the experience.

Still a great place to go for a curry. Have been going for years and still the same great food, great atmosphere at great prices. Mahmood you're a diamond.

I travel a lot for work so while in Derby fancied an Indian and found Shalimar gold. I can honestly say its up there with the best ive ever had. Staff friendly and welcoming and food is amazing. Beautifully decorated restaurant. Will definitely be back.

Amazing food and really superb service. I am very impressed. Jimmy and the team did a super job looking after us. Super curry sauces and meat so tender and well cooked. Also spices balanced and nan light and fully fluffy. I stopped eating curry out as most places in the area are average. This is a first rate place. Well done and thanks, you earned a repeat customer!

Always have a different dish here. Always amazing. Delicious food. Outstanding service.

Far too greasy. Not the usual standard at all. Changed chef maybe? Tasty but a heart attack in a tub. Salad was boiling hot! Completely inedible.
