I am a bit torn over this because sometimes they are quite a bit sloppy. However I do keep going back for my reward after going to the dentist next door. So I only have myself to blame. Maybe some like it a bit sloppy (;0) Highly recommend!!

Good food. The fish gets 5 star, only occasionally let down by the chips. Chicken kabab is delish.

Excellent fish & chips. The mini fish specials are very good value.

Last minute telephone order for lunch was ready, fresh and waiting and was absolutely delicious. We could even park in the layby right outside and the girl assistant was very polite and helpful. Would recommend their fish!

Hubby and I had the Ashbourne special, which is fish, chips, a small sausage and a choice of sauce. Firstly the girl behind the counter and the guy cooking spent a lot of time squabbling like school kids, not a great first impression but what really let it down was the fish, I had mine with peas and whilst I like a good amount, it was drowning in them. The fish had no flavour and the batter and chips were extremely soggy with all the peas! This place also has a 1 star hygiene rating which I didn't realise until after eating. Would not return I'm afraid.

We don't like leaving negative reviews but then we have to be honest here. Firstly the apron of the staff member serving was disgusting. It was filthy & looked like it hadn't been washed in over a week.Flies were swirling around in the air in the customer waiting area. Ultra violet fly zappers aren't that expensive surely! The fried food wasn't the most pleasant either & even the freshly cooked haddock was very greasy - in comparison to many other places we've been to.On a positive note: the pukka pie was ok. 😉 🥧

Amazed to be asked for a review. I was only parked outside! I have used this establishment a few times over the years during the Shrovetide football festivities and it has always been good.

We have spent a week in Ashbourne and used the Fish Bar twice. The food was absolutely amazing and very plentiful, more than I could eat normally, but because of the quality I made a pig of myself. Very friendly staff. I would recommend this place to anyoneBarry & Jennifer from Kent

Ashbourne is a fine town to visit, though overall quite expensive. The fish bar is a good affordable alternative. We found it clean, liked the friendly staff and thought it was a good menu. I've had better fish and chips, but I've had worse as well. It's very near the bus station. Very convenient for central Ashbourne.
