Stopped in for a light lunch in Hartington. Ordered a cheese sandwich and asked if cheese and onion was possible, but apparently the kitchen has no onions (obviously just an excuse, if you don't do customisations then just say so).Sandwich consisted of 2 slices of dry supermarket bread with no butter, grated cheese, a 3rd of a packet of ready salted crisps, and a handful of salad leaves - less than £1 of ingredients for £6.95 and no attempt to make it appetising. The only reason this gets 2 stars is the central address in Hartington; they're clearly not interested in providing decent food and are simply trading on their location.

What a gem 😍 beautiful old pub with lots of charm and history. The murials in the dining room and bathroom are spectacular and I love the querky beaded pictures of insects on the walls. Lovely friendly staff and great choice of drinks.Sorry I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat, our loss.....Next time

Great location and good value. Stayed for two nights. Enjoyed the full English breakfast, pints of cider and dinner. The small town has impressive scenery around.

It's a nice pub, well worth a pint if you're in the area. There's a large outdoors area at the front or an under utilised beer garden at the back that has yet to realise its full potential. The food was good, standard pub fare. WiFi was a bonus.

What a shambles the place doesn't open till 3 pm. But the rooms where not good at all had 2 of them. The noise was horrendous complained got moved a little better but not much. Person in No5 should be ashamed of themselves TV loud at 6am in the morning. But the breakfast was the worst I have ever had. Never again.

Quite shabby and dirty, our room was old fashioned and had a squeaky bed and very smelly bathroom as no vent. Not good value for money and definitely would not stay again.

We loved it. Its in a tiny village The staff were lovley, it was quiet so quiet. There is a little village shop and antiques shop near it. We felt safe and the drive to it was lovley. The place is beautiful and another little pub both with alot of character. The rooms were nice, it had a big bath. pretty big open windows, bed was comfy and some nice pillowsThe food was awsome! Very quick and very fresh to say it was so late in the day - we had 3 courses and were so full. Still talking about how nice it was now hahahWe paid for a Groupon and for the price were really happy. We could of stayed longer!Thankyou

We stayed last August and have only written this review as this has come up on wowcher and we noticed it has 4 stars. Location great. We had a double room at the back of the hotel. Must have been near water tanks as we had gurgling noises all night. It was old and needed refurb. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The view out of the window was of old sheds. We told reception the next day that we was going to find somewhere else. We paid for two nights and only stayed one but not offered refund for 2nd night.
