Fully agree with all the comments about how rude the land lady is do not stop at this pub. Could not have made life more uncomfortable for us all. Beer served was last in the barrel and should not have been served. What a shame that such a lovely pub is spoilt by such a clearly unfriendly level of service.

Some folk need to man up, only moaning people with a grievance comment on hear. Stopped had a pint in a well kept pub, no issues maybe need to look closer to home for the problem!!

We visited today after a walk. Very unfriendly atmosphere. Served locals before us, even though we arrived before them. Served us the wrong drinks in very scratched, worn glasses. Absolutely no welcome or pleasantries, no eye contact. Would not recommend.

Called in whilst passing on a walk, looks like it should be a really nice pub. However possibly the most unwelcome I've ever been made to feel in a pub, the barmaid made it obvious she doesn't like people who aren't locals. Don't think the hospitality trade is for her! Was going to stop for food but decided better of it.

Me and my family were made to feel very unwelcome by the barmaid she was rude,terse and had a face like a lemon this was an outing for 7 of us ..she said we couldn't use a chair from another table which was vacant we asked fir a high chair and she was tutting and pushing tables and chairs about we felt so unwelcome I cannot believe you employ such a rude individual front of house perhaps more suited not dealing with the public..after her behaviour we chose to leave ..absolutely shocking ...my advice is find a friendly,approachable,positive motivated person instead of her..even the other staff looked embarrassed..we will not visit this pub again..

This is a lovely pub. The barmaid today though couldn't have gone further out of her way to let us and everyone else who wasn't a local know we weren't welcome. Avoid like the plague til she's gone. Which will hopefully be soon.

I was really looking forward to visiting this pub having been previously and being impressed by its character, however when we went this time they had the most rude gruff barmaid serving us behind the bar. It seemed as though she didn't want us there and perhaps doesnt like people who arent locals. Regardless the woman is in the wrong job and ruined our experience. We wont be back

A friendly and busy country pub and restaurant with a good selection of food and drink.The landlady showed a great understanding of those who are local and you can see those relationships in action.

How long this establishment has been known by this name I don't know, there was a time in the recent past when there was a penchant for calling pubs "amusing" names.It was however, encouraging to find it busy on a Tuesday lunchtime with not many free tables. We placed our order at the bar whilst ordering our drinks and retired to the table in the far corner. The starters appeared very quickly and whilst the garlic mushrooms that I ordered appeared to be appetising, the garlic mayo, of which there wasn't sufficient, had more than a hint of the catering pack. Next up was the steak and ale pie which came with chips, fresh veg which included carrot, cauliflower, broccoli and peas which were all cooked perfectly (pay no attention to the huge amounts of veg in the pic, my wife doesn't do veg, I'm always the grateful recipient). The pie itself while nicely filled but with only a cursory pastry top was ok with lots of meat but for me it was a bit lacking. The service was fast but the conviviality was utterly absent, OK, we're not locals but a bit of friendliness goes a long way, I know,I work in the service sector.
