Grouse and Claret in Derbyshire Dales

Hubby and I ordered 2 sandwich meals Posh Fish Finger and BBQ rotisserie chicken and cheese with chips. Delicious and reasonably priced. Excellent service and so relaxing.

From start to finish it was a wonderful experience. Firstly the food was superb…Secondly The Camden Hells was right on the button. Third….The Service was excellent. What more could we have asked for. Keep it up.

Fabulous family meal, one of the nicest we have all had in a long while. Fresh home made food & although experiencing a challenge with staffing obviously this pub puts customer service & staff welfare before profit by not cramming lots of people in. Thank you to all staff on duty today.

We stayed here for 2 nights late January and its location is ideal for a quite nights stay. Very pretty area, next door to small shopping village and a nature reserve on one side. A lovely sounding river on the other side and a camp site behind. The pub itself is nice, staff are lovely and the food is ok too. No real issues. The room was ok too. Nothing special or luxurious but it's clean and tidy with all WE need in it. Recommended if your in the area. The pics are 2 from the room and 2 of the grounds of the Inn.

This is one of our favourite places to dine in Derbyshire. Cannot fault anything about it. Took parents for a festive meal. Quality, value excellent. Staff were very professional but warm and friendly. A must visit place any time of the year

On arrival at 2.30 was greeted by a friendly face who showed us to our table. We were given menus and we placed our order. The starter arrived relatively quickly but we had a 40 minute wait before we got our main course. The main course was disappointing. The pasta dish arrived in a small bowl. We were expecting a little bit more to be honest and a bigger portion. The ploughman's was OK although the lettuce was brown in places and only 1 slice of cheese wasn't really enough. The dessert was ok to be fair although the ice cream had freezer burn on it. The atmosphere and look of the place was great but your food needs a little tweaking. Your waiting staff are very knowledgeable but sometimes look a little moody and standoffish. We will be back to give you another chance as we have heard good things about your food and service.

First time here and really enjoyed the setting. Having just proposing to my girlfriend in the area, I booked here for a bite to eat. We was not disappointed. The service was second to none and the food was spot on. We definitely recommend the Grouse and Claret.

Food was absolutely lovely! We took the fish and chips, the cod loin with rarebit sauce, bacon and veg, the apple and raspberry tart and the cookie & cream slice. Price is right for the quality of food.

Decent pub food was spot on. We had two dinners and one breakfast there (staying at their camping site). Service was a bit slow the first night but absolutely fine the second night.

We sat outside, the food was lovely, I had one of the lunchtime specials, The Classic Club, which came with chips, followed by a Berry Citrus Sundae. Very enjoyable, all the staff were really friendly. Shall definitely be returning.
