We stayed as a family at the High Tor for a long weekend as a family of six, the hotel is relatively small and cozy, sitting up on the side of the mountain, the interior is a mix of modern and rustic, nice and clean. We ate there every night, the food was good quality, maybe a little on the small side if your a big eater, the menu is compact but I got the feeling they are concentrating on quality of food which they manage well, I think they were short on staff at the time as it was before the season had started properly, all the staff we meet went the extra mile to make us happy, especially Anu who seemed to be everywhere. For us it was a perfect balance of service, always around but not always there. All this considering Anu has only been running it for 10 days. Lastly hats off to the chief for excellent consistent food. We will definitely be back in the summer

Had such a lovely time in matlock bath as it was only a short walk from high tor. the hotel I fell in love with instantly and was really impressed with our room. Very clean with a massive en suite bathroom. Hotel staff are really friendly, and everyone had a smile. We will be returning soon

A hotel in the style architecturally, like a Swiss chalet, as the Georgians intended it to look reminiscent of the days, from what Lord byron said when he regularly visited it was called little Switzerland. A beautiful compact little hotel standing high on its own promontory in days past before the new road was cut in the early 19th it curved more down to the river. Beautifully preserved and retaining of all its period features stuccod ceilings and respect for this. An exellent view of high tor in the old days before county hall neglected Matlock bath and its spa history the precumbant and self set Ash sycamore and other vegetation didn't obstruct or destroy the beautiful vista and the backdrop of the torred Valley that makes up little Switzerland the only good view of the whole outcrop is provided by the front vista of the high tor hotel. That's worth a visit alone for this. Customer service at this hotel is Exeptional, polite respectful and nothing too much trouble good and bar areas good and exellent it is nice to see that the decor, the interior unlike other hotels in this area have retained its Georgian interior Exeptional service both of us loved the time we spent and the service thankyou.

Love the age of this place, the room was quite big enough for us. Even in October the hotel was warm enough to open the windows, but with secondary double glazing it would be warm in winter too.We were running late 7 hours drive 3 hours longer than anticipated and were so relieved when the hotel rang us to see if we would be requiring an evening meal, we declined as we knew we wouldn't arrive until after 8.00pm but to know they were expecting us was reassuring. Warmly welcomed on arrival. Our room was lovely as was our breakfast next day. We will return, for a weekend of exploring, in this lovely part of the world. Thankyou

Great hotel, great staff, great price.Lovely continental breakfast, great choice. Was with two mates on our bikes which were safe in the car park. Will definitely be stopping there with my wife for a few days in the peak district.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was an average size, clean and comftable. The dark curtains kept out the light. Perfect. The shower was fierce, loved it once l got the hang of it.

Great location, quiet room, vegan milk provided at breakfast. A smile and welcome would have been nice upon arrival: first impressions are very important.

Friendly staff but tired and worn interior. The twin room we booked was small and cramped, disappointing. The windows couldn't opening and there we're dreadful fluffy brown cushions on the beds. The hotel however is in a great location for Matlock Bath and great for a stop over.

Beautiful boutique hotel in a beautiful location. Very central for exploring. The owners and staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a family room which was huge and had views onto High Tor.. Spotlessly clean. Our only complaint would be the sausages on the breakfast were quite basic. However we would return here at the drop of a hat. Loved it.
