Little John Hotel in Derbyshire Dales

Fantastic pub with pool, darts and a great range of drinks. It's made great by the staff - particularly Tony, who when we visited went above and beyond to make us all feel welcome! Would 100% recommend a visit.

We stayed for one night, 21st April, and we will definitely be back very soon. The room was very clean and the decor was great. Have to mention the amazing full English breakfast it was one of the best we've had 🍳😊. All staff were very friendly and helpful. See you soon. Niel and Annie Amos.

Absolutely lovely pub at Hathersage. We walked from Grindleford to Hathersage and stopped there for lunch which was delicious. The staff were pleasant and spent time to chat..this is also dog friendly which is really great..highly recommended.

Stopped here for one night in one of their cottages. Could easily have stayed longer. The food was generously sized, the selections of beers was abundant and, of the two I sampled, refreshing and tasty. The staff were all amazing, even despite our dog getting a bit excited when another four-legged visitor arrived and tired kids full on dinner and ice cream! The cottage we stayed in was perfect for our family, including stair gates, which were a godsend! Fully equipped with everything you need for a longer stay. My only complaint would be finishing touches in the cottage, but being a Facilities Manager, I tend to notice these things, not that it impacted the quality of our stay!

Beautiful place.Rooms and bathrooms are very spacious. Breakfast very generous ( 2 of each egg, bacon, sausages, hash browns, black pudding slices mushrooms and tomatoes[they allowing to substitute])bread, jams, juices, yoghurt, pain au chocolate, porridge and vegetarian/vegan options. Pub menu great if you stay for few nights and big portions.We had great experience.

Stopped for a lunchtime meal with my hubby after a visit to Alpkit. Fantastic menu, choice of drinks and friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely come again.

Absolutely amazing place. The staff were courteous and friendly, the food was far better than I expected it to be given the simple menu that was printed out, the bar and restaurant looked very stylish and in keeping with the local village. Definitely recommended a visit to here.

Problem areas: slats in bunk bed collapsed twice; reported it but initially met with " what do you expect me to do about it? " before speaking to someone else who completely rebuilt the slats.No dustpan and brush, no cafetiere, no jug. Could have done with a bit more toilet roll....3 days, 5 of us only 3 rolls.Found 2 bags of sprouting potatoes in kitchen dresser, 8 bags of crisps in a drawer. Behind settee crisp packet, child's toy and a pile of leaves. Clearly the cleaning routine needs a little more work.

Had such a great stay here. Great location, service and bar food was excellent served by friendly hard working staff. The room was clean and comfy. The breakfast by the way was off the scale, best I've had in a hotel (and I've had a few). Will definitely be back. Thank you.

Had a lovely overnight stay ( myself, husband and small dog) The location is great, very quiet and pleasant with suitable places to walk the dog on the doorstep. I think this is perhaps the most genuinely dog friendly hotel we’ve stayed in.Our room was great. Comfy bed and nicely decorated room. Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean.As many people have already commented the breakfasts were excellent. Choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and they even had almond milk. The cooked breakfasts were delicious and enormous. I chose poached eggs on toast and my husband had the full English. I’ve not known him be outfaced by a breakfast before but he certainly was this time although nothing went to waste as our dog greatly enjoyed the leftovers later.We found the staff to to helpful and pleasant. We would happily stay again.
