An excellent lunch in a busy pub with superb food. Makes a good stop for walking around Longstone Edge from Great Longstone and back across the fields. You must book in advance!

Good food, and as we have found in Derbyshire, jolly, friendly staff. Eating outside is a must. Good beer too. I would say, sleep at the Monsal Head Hotel (for the views) not sure if I can recommend the breakfast yet as I haven't had it) and wander down the hill for your evening meal at the Pack horse.

We had a lovely dinner on Sunday evening, we booked a table of 4 but on the off chance we went as a six (we had emailed ahead of time) they very kindly accommodated us. Service was really friendly and relaxed and the food was delicious. We sat out under the pergola with the heaters and it was really cost and comfortable. A really great place to eat if your in the Peak District.

This is a typical Derbyshire Country Pub, serving excellent beers and food. It's a small venue with a lovely pub garden. Service is attentive. The food ingredients are sourced from local producers, excellent if you like duck, venison etc, but a rather limited choice for vegetarians (and more so vegans.) Parking is on-street only, but it's a great place to plan into a circular walk of which there are many locally.

What a great spot. Fantastic food and incredibly friendly staff who squeezed me in without a reservation and made me feel completely welcome. Definitely worth a return visit. I loved it.

Really good food in a really pleasant atmosphere. The Packhorse Inn is one of them fancy pubs with fancy food, but don't let that put you off! The atmosphere is really pleasant. Open fires and friendly welcoming staff and the food is fantastic. It's a very dog friendly pub to the point where just about every member of staff came over to give my dog a fuss.Highly recommend it, we will definitely be returning the next time we're in the area.

The Packhorse Inn has a covered, heated outside, which is where we ate. We shared a delicous platter of local meats and cheeses. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's a great spot to eat a hearty lunch after a good walk along the nearby Monsal Trail.

The best Sunday lunch! We were recommended to visit and told to book ahead, we’re glad we did, it was a perfect dinner after a nice walk along the trail and through the tunnel

Great place for great food. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Lovely bar area and characterful dining spaces. A perfect cosy outdoor area covered for rainy days.

This was a great choice to refuel after walking the Monsal Trail. Not too far from the viaduct, but a very steep climb. The staff are fantastic and the quality of the food was a surprise for a village pub, and for all the right reasons. Highly recommended eating here. I know I will👍♥️
