This café is amazing, a brilliant range of food for all people including the best gluten free brownie I have ever had! They had gluten free and vegan options which is an amazing find at somewhere so remote. Staff very helpful and friendly too. Highly recommend.

Went to The Penny Pot Cafe after left Greenacres Campsite to go there for breakfast and tea before catch the train to go back to Essex after finish "Easter Weekend" Rambling.Inside and outside of cafe look nice and very tidy plus there have train information displayed of Platform 1 - run to Manchester Piccadilly) and Platform 2 - run to Sheffield.Really quite enjoyed visiting there for eat and drink but seem popular for hiking and "mountain" cyclist. Will try re-visit again one day.10/10.

Ordered food and drinks before noticing the ‘card payment only’ sign.. I was allowed to pay cash but they had no change. They took a ten pound note for our £13.50 order and would not accept my offer of a £20.. We returned after our walk (via the car to grab some coins), paid off the debt and bought two drinks to takeaway. Extremely polite and friendly staff.

Lovely little cafe which we discovered on a walk. Stopped just for a drink, ended up enjoying a very tasty sausage roll and yummy flapjack. Happy to refill water bottles for free.

What a little gem of a place. Very friendly, welcoming owner. Great tea, made with loose tea leaves. No old fashioned tea pot, snazzy glass modern one with filter/tea strainer built in.

Visited this little cafe few dasys ago, I enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate while waiting for friends doing trekking. Love their coconut-oat biscuit and stuff!

Found this place after a long local walk which was an amazing find. The owner Chris served me coffee and cake ( which was truly amazing may I add) while I waited for my wife to arrive with my wallet. Log fire was very welcoming too. If you want some friendly service, good cake and great fresh tea or coffee I would definitely stop here. Next time I’m in the area I will try the homemade soup. Thank you Chris for such a little gem.

Gone downhill recently. Not sure if they have new staff but management need to be checking and retraining them. My rating would be zero if possible. Used to be able to get a nice coffee and cake. Today was served sponge cake that was solid on bottom, compressed raw cake mixture. Environmental health need to be checking this place out. Coffee wasn't good either.

A really miserable place! Was really looking forward to a trip to this national trust cafe, having been to other good ones, but the place was a total let down. Dismal seating arrangements either at the back in a dark alley area or by the bins, at the side. Unfriendly - as staff are raised up on a platform and look down on you as you stand below the very cramped counter, which was v poorly stocked at 3pm in the afternoon - a series of curt unfriendly 'No's' we don't have: scones, we don't have this or that, cake, t cakes.... just a few expensive and mean portioned flapjacks. Should have followed my first instinct and walked away on entry, but this trip with my partner was planned as an afternoon tea treat. I sorely regretted spending the £9.50, which just generated waste, from the unnecessary plastic lids for drinks, that collect and fill the bins we sat by. Why has the effort gone out of everything here? Why is this place so poor and miserable
