Restaurant at The Chequers Inn in Derbyshire Dales

Excellent evening meal with generous portion sizes. Friendly atmosphere in an historic inn with rooms. Location great for accessing the Dark and White Peak.

Just popped in after a walk as we were very hungry. Very nice interior and our Border Terriers were accommodated without a fuss. We ordered the burger with a Hartington cheese sauce. We thought this a little pricey at 17 pounds but only really because we were just passing by and just needed a quick bite to eat before the half hour drive home.... but it was truly excellent, and despite sharing one plate between us (with extra chips) we thought it well worth the money and amongst the top of the list of the best burgers we've had. Beer v good too.Staff very helpful and friendly.Certainly we were pleased to have called in and would go again. Better than any of these chain pubs for sure!Best to book in advance we are told.

What can I say about The Chequers! I've been going there for ~25 years since my sister moved to Curbar. I'm sure I'm part of the furniture. Seriously Jonathan and Jo always are welcoming, the food is fantastic plus they do special events. The homemade Christmas puddings are the best.....the garden has been revamped so there's nothing best than lazying around with food and a drink after a day's walking over Curbar Edge

Pleasant atmosphere.Excellent food.Service to match.Maybe a small menu but varied.Plenty of parking space.First went there in the 1960s.This was voted the best B&B in England sometime ago.

Have been staying at the Chequers Inn for years. Wonderful location right in the heart of the Peak District. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food is consistently excellent.

Well situated in Froggatt with great views and Wales from the door.We enjoyed a comfortable overnight stay.We chose the Chequers as it had some nice looking vegan near options on the menu and we were not disappointed.Friendly service, good range of drinks and a lovely meal.Only disappointment was the breakfast, which looked great but the vegan version was the traditional English minus meat, egg etc with no substitution leaving us with one mushroom, half a tomato and a very small pot of beans. We even spoke to waitress beforehand but she (or the kitchen) did not listen. I have not dropped a star as I'm confident this was an oversight that would have been quickly rectified had we made a fuss about it.Would certainly recommend The Chequers and we would stay again.

I have been dining at the Chequers for many years, often with several friends, and have always enjoyed it. At present it is fairly quiet, which I am very happy about. The menu is to my taste, and the food is very good. Staff are welcoming and attentive. I am happy to recommend it.

A beautiful historic pub/restaurant serving excellent food and drink although they don't have much of a selection of alcohol free drinks, a bit of an oversight considering most people have to drive to get there. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

This place was quite the find. Searching around for a nice pub on the route between Buxton and Sheffield, came across this place by chance.Really charming little pub by the roadside. Friendly welcome and local lager on tap.Small menu but well executed and really lovely food. Beautiful pie. Seriously good pudding.Popular. Would recommend booking in peak times.Also offers rooms - staying a good excuse to eat here multiple times.Will be back.

Popped by for dinner as the menu was very enticing after a days walking - the menu over promised and did not deliver. The prices are high (I’m well aware that prices have risen, but I have eaten duck breast out 2/3 times since lockdown and paid £3-£4 less for it) and drink prices are also high. Considering we were the only people in the restaurant I’d have expected that our meals would have been cooked well but my husband had to send his fish back it was so dry and my duck was over cooked. Very disappointed with a high price tag so wouldn’t visit again. I also feel from reading other reviews that any criticism isn’t taken to kindly by the owner/s which is a great shame.
