Sheldon Toby Carvery in Derbyshire Dales

One of the better Toby's in this side of Birmingham. We have used this Carvery for over 30 years now and have always had a decent meal. Recently we came here after a funeral and they really looked after us, hence the 5 stars. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately this was a badd experience. My daughter who is 10 ask for an adults meal but recieved a child'sThe veggie were very over cooked and the Yorkshire had folded in on themselves and were very chewy.We were asked if we wanted pigs in blankets aand she said she but where collecting the meal there weren't any, seems they come plated up ager the meal, very over cooked

"Tasty, Friendly, Welcoming, and Professional!"An absolute pleasure having lunch today with daughter and friend. The moment we walked in the door and our hostess Stephanie greeted us, we could feel a friendly and positive atmosphere amongst all the staff.Carvery Chef was friendly and very chatty, a very nice man who served meat that practically melted in your mouth. The veg selection was all fresh and tasty, the roast potatoes in beef dripping were a stand out from the selection. Draft beer was lively and tasty and my daughter absolutely loved the cookie dough sundae.While we finishing up eating we overheard, and watched a situation unfold. The 3 women who were sat at the table close to us displayed behaviour that was arrogant and to be frank, downright rude in their attitude towards the waitresses that where serving them. The team showed great patience and an extremely high level of professionalism, far exceeding that which I would have displayed myself or expected my staff to given the situation. I was very impressed with how waitresses handled the situation.All in all a great place to eat, with a friendly atmosphere, we have been lucky enough to visit various eateries around the world with work and play travels, Sheldon Carvery is up there with the best of them at this price point. Great work, we will return, Thank You!

I came in with a friend and his baby.We go to Toby carvery regularly, just usually a different branch but they was fully booked.But oh my was it worth the extra travel time, honestly the best Toby carvery I have been to.Great food amazing customer service and a very good atmosphere.Just a shame 3 ladies on the table next to us were complaining every minute to get free drinks food and dessert. But the way the staff and manger handled their patience and cool was outstanding, I was just a customer and even I felt like getting up and telling them to leave.The staff work to a quick pace.Work well under pressure.Extremely respectful and polite.And seem like they alway try to go the extra mile!Even the chefs where super friendly which was a shock because its just a common unspoken rule that chefs are grumpy 😂😂5 STARS!!!

I visited here today, as I needed somewhere to feed my 9month old so thought I’d give it ago going for food alone (never been out for food with just me and a baby before) the service I received was absolutely outstanding, I requested to be seated close to the carvery so I could see the baby whilst I quickly went up, the first seat I wasn’t 100% comfortable with so they juggled things around to give me a comfortable seat with no hesitation!! Whilst I was getting our food one member of staff specifically (I wish I took her name but the only way I feel I can describe her as I’d say the younger short brown hair lady) was engaging with the baby for me honestly I genuinely feel they went above and beyond today for me and gave me such a comfortable experience I would love for the specific lady who I mentioned above to get acknowledged for this email but again I don’t know her name there was 3 lovely lady’s working all of which had perfect customer services skills but to the lady who looked after me and my baby… thank you! Xx

Absolutely dreadful, went for the buffet breakfast. Hardly any food left, had to wait ages for them to bring out more. Went up for second serving after waiting for a massive queue to go down (customers waiting for them to refill the dishes) to find several dirty plates, obviously not washed properly. Asked the chef if there were any eggs, finally brought some out, then asked twice if there were any mushrooms, waited even longer, chef came out again with more eggs and I asked for the 3rd time for mushrooms to be told they haven't got any. Would not recommend anyone to go there, very bad experience

This is my first one star review I have ever posted but today this place deserves it. The potatoes were under cooked as was the veg to the point where they were hard to cut not like roast potatoes should be. I think it was because they seemed to have attempted to roast whole potatoes like 4 inch across which is not how I learned to make them but I’m not a chef so I might be wrong. The Yorkshire puddings were flat and the atmosphere was not what I would call relaxing with the phone ringing and cutlery being poured into a box behind us making a real racket. Finally we were billed incorrectly being charged for 4 carverys where we had 2 kids and 1 veg only meal. It might of just been a bad day for them but that was our experience today.

Staff are amazing at this place, and this wasn't just a one off. Kylie who served us was incredible, nothing was too much trouble. Carvery for 10+ people 👌🏼

Everything was good or better. Eaten here many times previously. This time was somehow better. Correct and timely attention from the waiting staff. Meat portion from the carvery chef was sufficient. All vegetable options were fresh, hot and available. A much better than average experience. Visited 2pm on a Sunday.

Excellent customer service and top quality meals, I met a couple of staff who were really kind and inviting. Katie her name was and I met one of the chef called George. Top Man who makes the dishes of cuisine! Really polite and always makes sure your meal is top quality! Would highly recommend here for a delicious meal and a quiet few pints! 🙂
