Excellent food for both vegans and non-vegans alike! Well worth the wait when it's busy!

Truly beautiful pub recently renovated. Pretty much everything you want from a country pub. I love Robinson's houses and the beer I had here was superb (Unicorn). I will return and to anyone reading, you need to pay a visit!!

Discovered the Anchor a couple or 3 years ago by chance whilst driving around the Peak from home in Derby. Fantastic food, staff and ambiance. And in the Peak District. We’re lucky to have the Peak on our doorstep and, pubs like the Anchor. Okay, we’re not locals but the Anchor is always on the agenda when we enjoy a trip out. Tomorrow is Valentines Day, had planned a surprise to a local eatery but now planning the Anchor. Do hope it’s quiet!

Quintessential country pub with one of the best roasts I’ve ever had (seriously). Really friendly and helpful staff too.

Out for a drive as it was such a nice day and came across The Anchor Inn on our way to Buxton. Friendly staff, tasty, freshly cooked food very reasonably priced. I would definitely visit this pub again.

On a short break in Castleton, whilst travelling to Tideswell, I recognised The Anchor from 30 years ago when we came here when our kids were small. Had a lovely lunch, including the very unusual black pudding and bacon salad. Also had the superb Robinson's "Trooper" ale. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere made for a very pleasant lunchtime.

Spotted this place on a ride out and decided to stop for a pint. Wow what a warm welcome from the female barstaff, lovely and friendly. Nice, tea and coffee but the highlight was the chocolate fudge pudding and custard.

A lovely welcoming atmosphere in this pub. We had rung up to book a table, in order to have a late Sunday roast lunch. We were informed that there was currently a lack of roast potatoes. Which is fine. When we arrived, they let us know that we could have a roast lunch quickly, but that they had put some more roast potatoes in and they would take about 40 minutes to be ready. At this point, all three of us, who were pretty ravenous decided that the regular menu would be a good option. Two steak pie, chips, peas and gravy were ordered, and one calves liver, bacon, mash and peas with gravy. The food arrived quickly, and was both hot and fresh. The pies, are homemade, and generous. Nice thin crisp pastry, and filled to the brim with tender meat. The chips were tasty, and the peace just right. The liver was delicious. Nice and pink, so not overcooked. The mash appeared homemade, and the gravy tasted like it had redcurrant jelly in it. So very nice indeed. Great to see liver on the menu. 👍🏻The landlady brought over our cutlery and napkins etc, prior to the food arriving. A lovely welcoming and friendly person. Infact all the staff were. So big thumbs up there. The loos were clean, and well maintained. As is the rest of the pub. Plenty of space inside to find a nice quiet corner to sit, or near the bar, so as to not miss any of the action. They are dog friendly, and don't mind people coming in in muddy boots. A homely and welcoming place. Plenty of veams and wood panels everywhere for those who like their pubs with a bit of history. A Proper country pub.All in all, would definitely recommend. Well priced for the quality of the food and the welcoming people.

Decided on popping in this pub on the way back to our caravan after a day out, not dispassionated at all, food was delicious, especially the salt and pepper chicken unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it as it was so tasty. Food and drinks were reasonable price. It was quite busy when we arrived but found a table in the tap room. We will definitely return when we are back in the area
