Cosy old pub nestled in a typically picturesque Peak District dale with outdoor area overlooking the River Wye.Refreshing local ales and mouthwatering tender lamb shank are on offer.I was particularly impressed by the selection of covid safe condiment sachets and that they thought of supplying scissors to open them with to avoid the annoying greasy fingered fumblings we've all suffered in the past. Anglers Rest, I doff my cap to you 🤠

Fabulous place, called here towards the end of a cycle ride along the Monsal Trail during Storm Dudley in February 2022! As you can imagine we were slightly wet! However the welcome was warm and friendly, the place was so cozy and the beer was delicious. Definitely will be going back here, hopefully in better weather and to enjoy a relaxed meal here too.

Staying in Buxton foe a couple of nights and fancied a meal in a country pub. Came upon the Anglers Rest on the Internet and took a chance. Booked a table to make sure as it was a 15 minute drive. WOW! Glad we took that chance. The pub is unspoilt and very welcoming. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Great choice of real ale and good menu choice. I was tempted by the mixed grill and my wife had the steak baguette (a favourite of hers). When it arrived at the table, the plate containing the mixed grill was huge and loaded with goodies! Both meals were delicious with obviously good quality meat. If there is such a thing as a hidden gem, this is definitely one. Next time we are staying anywhere in the area, we will be returning. Well worth travelling to. Highly recommended.

The perfect end to a cold country walk. We changed our shoes and cleaned the dog before going in, but were really impressed to see an area that allowed muddy boots and dogs. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. The food was nice and reasonably priced. I'll definitely visit again if I'm in the area.Edit not community owned, family owned :)

Great traditional pub and a real "locals atmosphere". Staff were busy, but made us feel welcome. Had the minted lamb which just fell off the bone and cooked superb. Fresh vegetables too.

This pub is full of character-especially if you like fishing memorabilia. The staff are friendly and attentive. We had lamb shank, which was cooked to perfection with Bakewell tart of pudding. The prices were very reasonable. Thank you!

Stayed for a few days and enjoyed everything about the Anglers Rest. The apartment was clean, warm and everything we needed. The Pub itself has a great atmosphere, food was lovely. And what a location. One of the very best places I've stayed.

Always great 👍 Still great, lovely staff and owners, lovely river setting especially in fine weather where one can be outside right next to the river. Not many pubs are better than this.
