Arrived at 11.30 and spoke to a lady who said our room would be ready for 12 although we knew it should be 2pm. Room price was a bargain compared to others in the area. Asked if we could leave the car and walk into Matlock town centre. Our room was number 4 and lovely and clean. The staff in the pub where friendly and very chatty. We had a few drinks and a portion of garlic bread and bowl of chips. Later that evening we sat in the main bar and chatted with the landlady who appeared lovely. We had a 2 8oz steak deal and bottle of wine for £26.99. It's one of the best steaks we have ever had. Beers and drinks are good prices. Nothing is to much trouble. Next morning we had a breakfast which was cooked perfectly and very generous portion size with juice and tea and coffee for £6 each.. This is our 2nd stay and definitely won't be our last. Highly recommended.

Love this place. Stayed the night and partied in there. It got very lively ( unsure if that was just us) but was a great night, great staff too

Very friendly. Food and drink good and at a reasonable price as was the accommodation. Down hill walk to the town but only £3 for a taxi back up.

I went to this lovely pub/ Hotel for one night with a group of friends. We had a very good, tasty meal and lovely B/F. The chalet was small but warm and cozy and clean. The staff were lovely, kind and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay.Would certainly go back.

Cold pub, not a greene king so falsely advertised and limited menu. Left the food on someone else's table and then the food was raw (chips and veg)/drink was flat. I dont have high expectations on pub grub but I was glad to leave.

Stayed overnight bed and breakfast. Good room in conversion at rear of pub. Very warm and comfortable. Shower was a bit on the small size. Bed was comfortable tea making facilities in room and biscuits.Breakfast was extra £6.00 pp but good value for money. Great location for walkers etc

Had a Christmas meal here but left half of it, the turkey and gravy were the only best parts. The mash potato and Yorkshire pudding didn't taste fresh, the veg was undercooked, the stuffing and roast potatoes seemed deep fried. The brownie and raspberry sorbet dessert was very nice. The table was laid out nicely for a festive meal. We had to wear coats as the seating area was very very cold, neither the radiator or log burner was on. Staff are very young, not really clued up, didn't know how to use the till. Paying was an ordeal for them and chef was rude, tried to charge me for three courses when I only had two then didn't apologise when he was proved incorrect. Terrible experience for a Greene King pub, won't be visiting again.

Loved this place. Visited while staying close by, and will certainly book into the accommodation at the pub. Very friendly to us and our two rather large dogs. Food was good, beers and service great !

Quiet pub offering accommodation at reasonable prices and with a varied range of food and drinks on offer. Staff were very helpful and attentive. We had a brilliant nights sleep and a good hearty breakfast the next day.
