The Gate Inn in Derbyshire Dales

Nice place and a short walk from the Lumsdale Waterfall if you fancy it. Lots of outdoor tables and… free wifi if that’s what you want. (Especially since there’s no phone signal 🤣)

We arrived her to be told the kitchen was overwhelmed and that we couldn’t order food, we sat and ordered drinks before discovering that we could book a table online for half an hour later. After doing this the staff presented themselves as rude and not interested after 3 instances of us asking we were given one dirty menu to share between four adults and after ordering we waited over an hour for the food to arrive.Upon arrival one of the ordered meals a lasagne arrive in a 4 inch dish that had been microwaved to the point that a fork could not pierce the food and we had to send this back and wait another 30 minutes for a different choice to be prepared. Overall the service was poor the only reason the gate managed two stars from us is because the steak pie was nice.Wouldn’t recommend as there are many nice alternatives close by where the staff actually care for your custom.

Nice relaxed atmosphere, our waitress was exemplary. I enjoyed my meal of chicken burger and salted caramel cheesecake for dessert, but both were lacking some real flavour. Unfortunately the birthday guests steak was inedible, all fat throughout but a free pudding was offered as a condolence.Might call again for a quick bite, but I wouldn't recommend for a special occasion.

Lovely place with plenty of room. Staff excellent, friendly and professional. Food was presented extremely well and amazing to eat. Price was good as well. Our new stop off when in the area, look forward to working though the menu.😁

Loved this pub! Fantastic food, great service and dog-friendly. Our dog was brought a bowl of water without us having to ask. Our food was tasty and plentiful. We managed a main course each and shared 2 puddings between 4 of us. Delicious!

Great place for big groups, quick service. Lovely selection of food and drinks. Only criticism was that we weren’t asked if we wanted anymore drinks during the meal and the taps in the ladies bathrooms didn’t work!

Faultless….!! From the welcome to service to the food and drink everything was amazing, we had Sunday roasts and both said It was probably one of the best Sunday dinners we’ve ever had. I couldn’t recommend this great pub enough 5 ⭐️ Thanks for a great experience we’ll be back…

Recent remodel. Made a good job and easily accommodated out family group of 16. Food and service were very good. Good value too. I paid for all and was a lot less than expected.All food looked good. I had the lamb shank which was enormous.

Went for a meal, hadn't booked and the staff were very helpful. We sat in the booths which are cosy, and there was fire burning as the afternoon was cold. Excellent service, good wholesome food, and a drink. A very pleasant experience.

Popped in with a friend for lunch. I Had never been before so had no expectations. The place is a hidden little gem. Lovely, Modern, Clean, And Welcoming. With very friendly helpful staff. We only had a light lunch of Tempura Battered Veg, Chips and side salad. But we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Was more than enough for lunch. I will be returning to try more if the menu. And be bringing more family and friends along.
