The meal was cooked to perfection. However some, not all, of the younger staff member's were a disappointment with their service.

Lovely atmosphere, quiet and relaxed dining with amazing food and service. I'd strongly recommend.

Excellent! Rooms are large and traditional complimenting the aesthetic of the area but have all the modern finishings to ensure a comfortable stay. Parking is great with allocated bays for residents, restaurant is good with a strong wine list. The service was the highlight of this venue, thank you goes to the front office team (Joe) getting the room sorted, organising our dinning requests and giving us some great recommendations in and around the area - your hospitality was much appreciated.

Stayed here a few months ago.Really friendly staff. They were welcoming especially the manager. All needs were met.Detailed instructions were emailed after initial contact. I quickly booked a room based on the great service and communication from the manager.Wheelchair friendly access to most but not all areas.Room was very suitable for electric wheelchair use.Rooms were beautiful. A really comfortable and relaxing stay. Felt safe and my son was very happy. The restaurant in site was used for the evening and for breakfast and I can not fault the service it the food. The staff went above and beyond. If we come up to the Peak District then we will definitely be staying again.

Very contemporary furbishment of the Yard. Cocktail offer before 6pm was good.value - the Negroni had a real kick to it. Aperol was fine. The meal was well presented. Slight hiccup was the presentation of a sirloin rather than the ordered filet steak (-1*). No worries as sirloin is always more flavoursome. It was cooked exactly to medium rare as ordered. However, surprised to discover afterwards that the peppercorn sauce was extra at £1.50.My wife had the whisky soaked smoked salmon starter with sweet potato fries served alongside my main. (Maybe Chef offers option of starters as mains with slight price uplift?)Creme brulee was perfect. Loved the idea of a shortbread biscuit 'plank' topped with fruit!Service was excellent, attentative, friendly and timely. Well done.Overall... Would we come again? Yes.

I booked The Merchants Yard for a family Sunday lunch / gender reveal recently and felt the need to write a review because we had such a great experience. We were put in the private room without asking which was lovely and both the food and service were great. The pub itself is both modern and cosy. I would highly recommend.

Went there for a birthday meal with my husband and really enjoyed the food. I had the artichoke soup followed by halibut and my husband had scallops and sirloin steak. Each dish was really tasty. The highlight for me was the rhubarb souffle with ice cream which I had for dessert. As I am a fan of rhubarb I thought it was wonderful. If you don't want to spend so much the menu also had a good selection of pizzas.

Stopped here for Sunday lunch as we were in the area and it had good reviews!Food wise, it would be a five star! We were two adults and small child, we ordered the sharing roast for 2 with an extra potion of veg and an extra yorkshire and it was plenty for 3. The beef was a lovely pink, the red cabbage nicely done and even the horseradish sauce was excellent! We also had a couple of desserts, all made in house, and these were equally excellent. My only thoughts on the food was the sugar snap peas in with the veg, for me they just don't belong with a roast! I'm sure others will disagree. The service pulled the score down from a five star review. It started out well and as expected but we had to wait a little longer than expected to have our empty plates cleared despite numerous servers walking past our table empty handed. We also asked a question to the person who served our dessert, about the dessert itself, and he didn't come back with an answer. He seemed to forget about us once he started clearing a different table.Overall, the Sunday lunch was excellent and I'd be happy to recommend or stop in again if we were in the area. The sharing concept is a little unusual but don't let this put you off, it did make for good value too!

Couldn’t fault it! All staff were friendly, efficient and professional. Clean, comfortable and well laid out seating from sofas through to being seated. Good selection of cocktails and wines and the food… superb!!!So glad we got in for Sunday dinner for our short stay - would be back everyday if it was open
