The Old Bowling Green in Derbyshire Dales

We had just finished a night walk and needed to warm up and have a drink. This place was lovely, friendly and welcoming. We have a few more walks planned in that area and will be visiting again and next time we will have food ☺

À very nice pub with tasty beer and good food

Not quite a proper visit but still worth 5 stars.My partner and myself booked a couple of nights around the corner from the Old Blowing Green, during the relaxation of the covid 19 restrictions. Some pubs have opened during this time. But understandably the Old Blowing Green hadn't. However we did notice that they offered a take away service.All I had to do was email for the next day. Which I did, absolutely no hassle, really friendly service, I paid via bank transfer so all safe there as well.We were given a slot to pick up the food. We arrived, got our food bang on time, again fantastic, friendly and safe service. The food was perfect temperature and absolutely delicious! My partner had the steak and horseradish pie. I had the fish and chips. Sadly we hadn't taken pictures before eating, we ate it all far too quickly to think about that!Highly recommended using the takeaway service if your visiting. And if we're ever back in the area when the pub is open fully we'll definitely be paying a visit.Thanks for a great service guys!

Lovely little pub with vegan and vegetarian options that allows dogs. Slightly muddy after a walk and that was ok too! Gluten free dishes for those in need as well!

A short break to Winster and the surrounding area with an evening meal at this excellent pub. Food very tasty and good value and the local micro brewery beer was brilliant. Highly recommended.

Lovely welcome and the food was really good. We had the chicken ham and leek pie and chick pea curry. There were two empty plates. You must book as they get very busy but it's well worth it and there is also a great selection of drinks on offer.

Went for Sunday roast and have to say it was excellent. The vegetables were perfection and the pork probably the best we have eaten.A first class roast and highly recommended.Draught beer was good, friendly staff, nice pub ...... all in all 5starThank you from 2 visitors to your village

WOW. What a find. Limited vegan menu but PERFECTLY to my taste. No vegan puds but we chatted about that so.....there is always hope. The usual menu got biggest thumbs up too. Can't wait to go again

Hospitality is great! Had a meal there last night, food was very good. We reserved a table as it can get busy on a Thursday and Friday (days they serve food). Wednesday, the land lady filled the table with snacks (enough to fill me up for the night). They have some nice Ales to. ... I would highly recommend!

Really nice pub, loads bigger than it looks, went in for the quiz night on NYE eve, had a great time, brilliant range of drinks, unfortunately we didn't eat.Unfortunately, and not the fault of the venue, we had some homophobic comments from a young local, but another local on the next table quickly quashed their comment!Apart from that the everybody in the village and staff we met were really friendly and welcoming!
