The Remarkable Hare in Derbyshire Dales

We have visited this pub a few times and have never been disappointed. The food is a little more expensive than a pub- chain but it is of excellent quality. They also cater for dogs. It can be a bit cold in the winter if your sit near the door as it opens regularly but it's a small price to pay for the excellent food, service and atmosphere.Our food today was the char- grilled chicken with pesto and chorizo risotto and the pork belly. Enjoy your visit.Recently went there for Sunday dinner and thought 'wow, what giant Yorkshire puddings' until I ordered the sausage and mash. Now I know what a giant Yorkshire pudding looks like. Got a box and had the leftovers for the next day. Great place.

We've been very impressed with the good customer service, extremely delicious and reliable priced food. The pub is also dog friendly, very clean and tidy. Spotless toilets.Not too crowded for a Bank Holiday afternoon. Definitely recommend to families with children/dogs.

Great pub/comfort food and BIG portions!! Wide menu choice including pub classics and pizza oven pizza.We had: Dirty Nachos (3/5), Chicken Gyro (5/5), Steak and Ale pie (4/5) and kids Pizza (5/5) (they actually made a mistake and made an adult size pizza for our 5yr old which was hilariously HUGE, but they gave it to us anyway at no extra charge and we were able to take most of it home!)!Food is available in the restaurant and bar area (same menu).I would highly recommend booking in advance!We hadn't booked but were lucky enough to be arriving as someone was leaving (bar area).Very friendly staff and a nice chilled atmosphere! Child friendly, even in the pub/bar area.Also Dog friendly, with treats and cushions available.Will definitely be coming back here!

The food was really good, however the restaurant was really busy so the staff were overstretched resulting in slow service. We were unaware that we only had the table for 2 hours which was not long enough especially if we had had appetisers or deserts. I would still recommend the restaurant though!

Very nice Sunday lunch, portion sizes are very generous my wife had the gammon Sunday Lunch and said it was the best gammon she had ever had, melt in the mouth standard, I had the pork belly which was equally outstanding, dog friendly nice venue and pleasant staff

Absolutely superb, the whole meal was amazing, the best steak I have had in a long time, and a lovely Cheesecake to follow. I will definitely be going back.

Well well well.... it pains me to say that this slightly understated quirky pub nestled in the high street of the Derbyshire Town of matlock has to be one of the best Sunday roast meals I have had the privilege of eating, tender meat and veg served on a oversized platter board with beautiful roasted vegetables, set in beautiful surroundings with a baby grand piano in the middle too! Service was quick and attentive along with polite staff too. All in all a 6 star experience I can't rate high enough!

Well that was one of the best lunches we have had in a long while!The double burger was fantastic and the belly pork was so so very good.Very accommodating for the pram and a high chair was provided.Greek gyros was tasty and the food all looks so good!Takes American Express.

We found this pub by Google search as we have come here for a little holiday. It's been our regular since we arrived. The food is amazing and not over priced, the portions are huge especially the Sunday roast, I had to get my dog to help me finish it. The people are amazing and you are well looked after. If we come back next year this will be our first stop.
