back to visit, after new management 2020, 1:20am on friday. the bar area much brighter than before. ÂŁ18 for two courses during weekday lunch is value for money. the cheese board and fish were in generous portion. bar staff were friendly and now it has free wifi.

Lovely chilled pub with excellent homemade food and a steak and ale pie to die for!

Came for Sunday lunch after eating here years ago and remembering it being very good. It seems to have been taken over since my last visit and had been modernised. The staff were a bit nonchalant but we were seated and waited for our drinks order to be took, despite being stood at the bar prior to being seated and behind somebody getting served at the bar. I asked if I could get drinks at the bar but was told it would be table service. No big deal really but I could've been served at the bar.We ordered the lamb dinners and food arrived in under 5 minutes. For 17 pounds a plate these were quite small dishes and after walking in the Peak in the day, I finished my plate in just over another 5 minutes. The roast potatoes were extremely hard, so much so that my wife left hers. I'm just a gannet and ate mine anyway!Lamb was OK and the veg was fine. It wasn't up there with the best lamb dinners I've ever had and it wasn't the worst. It was certainly over priced though. Shame the place seems to have lost the personal touch it used to have also. Would eat here again if I had to, but will definitely be looking for somewhere better when visiting the area again.

Set in a beautiful aspect. They have a good selection of ale, wine and gin. The ambience is quite pleasant, especially the log fire and armchairs. But the real reason to go here is the excellent food. We had the duck, the venison, the chips and the Bakewell pudding with custard. It was delicious!

Visited the pub after a long walk with friends on a rainy Sunday.Service left a lot to be desired, weren't made to felt like our patronage was particularly appreciated and there were a few occasions where drinks orders were misunderstood but the food certainly made up for that.Albeit slightly on the pricier side, all the food was clearly of a very high quality. Personally, I ordered the Beef Burger which was juicy and flavourful and the rustic "pub-style" chips were as good as I've had in a long time. All my friends' ordered the roasts and these also looked lovely. As I've said, if it wasn't for the service. The pub would have got my 5*s

Hadn't booked. Just stopped whilst on a journey. Found us a table and were extremely attentive. Add in some great simple food done exquisitely. A nice break in our journey.

Slight 25 minutes detour from our Baslow to Chatsworth Park circular walk. Friendly welcoming staff and super hot bowl of chips with quaffable pint of pale Wainwright’s ale was an excellent sojourn to break our way back to Baslow

Great food and drink. The pub looks fantastic with all the hanging baskets and flower troughs. All the staff are friendly and attentive. Tristan has a great team here.
