The Shalimar in Derbyshire Dales

Quality food and a warm welcome from very attentive staff members. Clearly fresh ingredients, the Desi curry was tasty. On the pricier side for a curry house.

Such a welcoming and homely restaurant. From the moment we entered the restaurant our host took great care of us. Without batting an eyelid, he even helped create a bespoke dish for my wife, who had a hankering for something quite specific.The food was wonderful, and there was plenty of it. We're really greatful for the experience and loved every minute of our visit.Thank you.

Nice restaurant with great service. Super friendly and attentive staff going above expectations by bringing a sample of the Curry to try. Food was very good. Big portions, well blended with tender lamb/chicken, fresh nan, mushroom pilau and crispy poppadoms.Onion bhaji was flat - was expecting a round one... but no big problem.Menu had enough dishes to choose from with traditional favourites alongside a few new ones, including the mushroom marsala curry.Good atmosphere inside and I detected a lot of regular customers who the staff knew well.Only negative thing being the price with average main dish costing around £13. That's 20% higher than I'd normally pay so the entire cost for two main course, one rice, one nan, onion bhaji, 4 poppadoms and pickle tray with 2 pints of lager was £63. That's quite expensive for a curry, I feel.

Service is very good, chocolate oranges are lovely. The food and drinks were served quickly. Unfortunately that’s where the compliments end. The food was very bland. The butter chicken tasted of a bland tomato sauce. The Dhal was just spicy with no flavour. This was a shame, as I mentioned lovely service, sadly let down by the quality of the food.

We had a variety of different dishes in our takeaway, all cooked to perfection. A wonderful experience all round. The service was excellent too. The two gentlemen I spoke to while they finished preparing some fresh naan bread were friendly chaps making our experience at The Shalimar a great one! I've been visiting my parents who have recently moved into the area and I'm sure The Shalimar is going to be a regular fixture in their new life in the Peaks!

Excellent customer service and scrumptious food. Meat was tender and flavoursome, salad was fresh and desi chai was spot on. They made sure we were all looked after and that food was to our liking. Handy car park on-site. I would most certainly recommend The Shalimar anytime.

On our way back from Matlock we called into this restaurant. What a great restaurant. From entering we were greeted by the Manager who looked after us and even asked my wife how hot she wanted the Curry. After she told him 10 mins later he came back with a sample of her curry. Never had this happen before. I noticed that the Shalimar is rated in the Top Ten Indian Restaurants in the UK on Trip advisor. We will be visiting again. Amazing Place👍

I visited The Shalimar with my family for dinner. It's such a brilliant restaurant! The staff are very friendly and hospitable. The food was delicious and the spice level was just right. The atmosphere was calming, relaxing and we enjoyed ourselves very much. This was our final outing whilst in the area and it was a perfect end to a great stay. I would definitely recommend a visit!

The menu had lots of choice and the food was excellent. The staff were so friendly, they even went out of their way to give us a lift back to our hotel when we struggled to get a taxi! Absolutely fantastic place, would definitely recommend!

Amazing food , amazing staff . Always welcoming, helpful and soooo friendly . Nothing is too much trouble for them .Highly recommend this place . We sat outside as the weather was beautiful and warm.. Spoilt for choice the menu never disappoints. Look forward to next time.
