The Sir William in Derbyshire Dales

We are having a wedding near by and three of our guests had booked into this hotel to stay. All three have been cancelled despite the hotel accepting their bookings months ago. A relative coming from Canada is now having to find an alternative at their cost less than 4 weeks away from the wedding. How can you justify cancelling so many rooms this close to the booking date? Terrible management.

Called today for Sunday lunch, it was delicious, fabulous views, we had the roast lamb, came with mash, roasties to die for and massive yorkshire pud with veg, mint sauce and gravy, excellent, brilliant hosts really enjoyed it.

Beautiful setting. Interesting range of ales for Greene King. The landlady was chatty and I really like that!!

Called in this evening with my four legged friend and what a warm welcoming pub. Nice pint and dog friendly. Landlord friendly too and doing fantastic job as host of this lovely building which is ideally located for some great local walks. I look forward to calling again and supporting this great English pub & hotel. Thank you

Lovely staff, lovely food, rooms are nice. Lovely view from the back bedrooms. For the price we paid it was amazing. The website pictures do not do this place the justice it deserves. Would def stay again. Thankyou x

Great food, friendly efficient staff, booked for mountain training courses with Beyond the Edge

What an absolute gem of a hotel! From start to finish a great experience in terms of customer service. Alan was very helpful over the phone at the enquiry/booking stage, and on arrival he and his team made sure we were very well looked after. We wanted somewhere close to Bakewell which offered comfort and a quiet night’s sleep at a reasonable price and we were not disappointed! We stayed in room 7, a double ensuite with an amazing bay window view out over the hills. The room was clean and cosy. After our night in Bakewell, and a 15 minute taxi ride back we had a nightcap at the hotel bar, where we were made to feel so welcome by Alan, his team and some of the friendly locals. Also a quick mention for the breakfast - absolutely superb standard, you could tell the ingredients, bacon, sausage etc all top quality and cooked with care. Our thanks to all at the Sir William, we will be back!

Landlord had only been there 7 weeks but made us very welcome and even told us about other pubs to see lovely people

We were just passing on the way to Matlock and decided to drop in for lunch. The current Landlord of only 3 weeks was very welcoming and would appear to be making a success of it. Enjoyed a nice lunch of fish and chips 👌 We would recommend a visit if you are passing!!

I stayed here whilst attending a course with beyond the Edge and I loved it! Helen and her counter part (so sorry, didn't collect name!) were both extremely welcoming and accommodating. I had breakfast delivered to my room and a packed lunch to take on my course!! We used the downstairs area whilst I was with the course group and it was all very organised, relaxed and fun. The room I was in had a beautiful view of the hills, it was spacious and the perfect position for sunrise. I would recommend booking. There's loads of walks in the area & it just has a really nice friendly feel. Amazing weekend.
