I'm so disappointed in the chips with my steak and ale pie, I went here hoping for some good pub grub, but instead I strongly suspect that I was served supermarket-brand steak cut oven chips (and the standard stuff at that, not the good lines of supermarket brand stuff). How difficult is it too chip some potatoes?The pie itself was ok, tasty enough, but not a lot of steak in it. Pastry was nice and the "proper gravy" (so called by the menu) was fine too, just a shame that it wasn't served with proper chips.My wife enjoyed her curry, I tried a bit and thought it tasted cheap, but her enjoying it has bought this review an extra star.Also buying this review an extra star was the staff, who were welcoming and pleasant.

Cats, dogs, steak and ale pie, Lovely pints of Timmy's and a fantastic atmosphere. Amazing pub!! Also the ginger sponge was excellent

Great pub, excellent service, friendly staff, cracking pint of Tim Taylors Landlord and Sunday roast was superb.

Good to see a very busy Thursday evening. We sat outside where there's loads of space and seating. Popular with cyclists as you can safely bike straight into the garden and have your beloved push-iron by your side.

Such a lovely pub! The food was delicious. We had a table of 7 with 2 dogs which was no trouble for them at all. 6 southerners and 1 northerner, southerners said it was the best pie they had ever had so well done! Stilton sauce was also to die for. Quick service, friendly staff! Couldn’t fault it at all :-)

Just passing through and looking for some pub grub. Found this place by accident. Wow. So glad we did. Best Stake and ale pie I've had in a long long time. Served with "proper gravy" as it said on the menu. It did NOT disappoint. Good selection of ales too. Would definitely recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Sycamore Inn. It's a good walk up a sheepish hill so we were quite tired but ready to eat. We both had steak and ale pie which was home made and fabulous and the gravy was a meal in itself, so rich, so tasty. I'm a good eater but after a single course I was full and couldn't manage a pud, which is a shame.They also have Timothy Taylor's Landlord on tap and that alone is worth the walk Hill the hill!!Thank you for a lovely evening.
