Nice in side good selection of drinks Sunday lunch doesn't look good

We chose to eat here as it's dog friendly. The food was excellent. I had the battered scampi and my husband had the homemade steak pie, both meals were hot, very good portions, but best of all homemade!! The pie was delicious, packed with meat. Also had the caramel sundae , that was very nice. Really nice pub, everyone very friendly, we even stopped for the quiz. Our dog was made very welcome and all staff were chatty and helpful. It's our first time staying in Derbyshire and it won't be our last. Thankyou to all staff at The Tavern for making us feel welcome, we will be back. 🙂

Been for lunch today, I had the scampi, not in breadcrumbs but their batter. Absolutely delicious, wouldn't hesitate to recommend..My husband had the wagau burger which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Called for first time tonight with my husband for an anniversary meal !! We were made to feel so welcome ..service was very efficient and food fabulous 😋 would definitely reccomend !!

Small town pub, friendly staff, food was nice. Sport on the TV in the bar area wasn't noisy.

Stumbled across this while visiting the Christmas Market in Matlock. Lovely traditional pub. Loads of parking. Welcome environment and service exemplary. Food was brilliant. Didn't sample the beers sadly but looked a good selection. Will definitely be back when walking the peaks again soon.

Lovely evening came here as it has just reopened again we both love this pub and small hotel stayed here many times both of us in the past warm friendly period country tavern good selection of drinks wine food and well cooked the liqueur coffee was lovely after our meal and an added bonus we met friends who'd also come for the same reason it was like the old days for both of us one of those evenings you don't forget for all of us. Our meal was cooked to perfection and the service was wonderfull lovely waitresses and chef was lovely too as he'd just returned too and we remembered him we can't recomend enough good parking quite extensive gardens spotlessly clean and well kept we will be back next week 💓

Went here for lunch last Saturday and was amazed. The food looks and tastes delicious. It's a pretty simple menu with all the pub favourites but they're done very very well. Extremely reasonably priced. I had a club sandwich which was perfect. My partner is vegetarian and she loved her sweet potato burger! The staff were very friendly and the pub itself is done up very nicely. Definitely recommend this pub for a bit to eat!

Very nicely presented pub restaurant both inside and out. Lovely menu with a twist so not just your bog standard pub menu, but still reasonably priced. Service very pleasant and dogs are welcome. Ales on tap and appears to have quite good gin list too. Some outdoors seating also available. Would definitely recommend for daytime or evening drinks and dining.
