Although advertised on Google as opening at 9.00am. It does not open until 10.00am. We were informed by quite a rude member of staff. The place looks really run down now since our last visit. We had to head into Matlock Bath instead to find a place that was open. It was a bit of a faff as we were meeting with family and we had already paid for car parking.

Clean cafe area service good. Staff good friendly and polite. Idyllic sitting by the wharf watching ducks and geese with a beautiful backdrop.

I have been going to this cafe for years, and I’ve always loved it’s food and coffee. However, you can see that management has ruined this cafe. Unfortunately, the prices have gone through the roof. But I would be more than happy to pay these prices if I didn’t have the likes of Kerry serving me. Never a smile and never speaks to her staff in the correct manner. It disgusts me. I’ve seen things I wish I hadn’t too from her like never cleaning and always relaxing whilst bossing the ‘rushed off their feet’ staff to do this and that. Another member of staff SWEARS in front of customers. How is that acceptable? What about if there were children present? I often come in and the cafe is dirty and not kept on top of, unless the lovely Judith, Bethany or a couple other staff are there. Overall, it is clear to see there is a HUGE management issue, and I will not be returning any time soon. My friends who regularly use this cafe as they feel very much the same!

Visited with my friend. Just one customer ahead of me and one girl serving. Two others standing in the back on their phones. It took a full 20 minutes to get 2 x coffees and 2 x fruit scones. I was very surprised to see the girl serving had extraordinarily long acrylic nails!! These seemed to hamper her handling the coffee machine and cups. Her colleague had to remove the milk bottle top for her. The scones and coffee were actually very good and the location and walk along the canal truly stunning. Shame about the lacklustre service in the café though…

Had a fruit scone. I will not have one again if I am with someone else as it was very compact and a bit dry meaning it took ages to swallow to be able to talk.Went upstairs to sit which was lovely and warm.

Good coffee and great homemade scones. Comfortable and clean. Toilet upstairs. Lots of walking areas and next to canal. Parking by meter across at the Mill or free on the road. Lovely area.

It would have been a 5 as the staff were very friendly, but I thought £2.30 was a tad steep for a pot of tea for one and there was nothing gluten free for me to eat. The girl did say there would be a delivery next day with GF cakes on it, but a bit late for me

Always have a tasty light lunch here. Toasties, soup, sandwiches, and drinks. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Visited on a wet Sunday afternoon really welcoming good selection of food and drinks. Dog friendly and large out door seating area with blankets if not raining.
