Ok... so to be fair to the Saracens Head it was a Saturday night, in February in Hogsthorpe, therefore maybe they didn't see the point in offering food to those in the local area or those travelling past, or even those that may want to dine out. In fact, neither did the other restaurant and pub in the village. We stayed in the annex accommodation and took our 'nicer' clothes so we could eat in this pub after a long day walking. I was looking forward to a steak and chips with all the trimmings accompanied by a real ale in a traditional pub. We settled into the accommodation which was adequate and cosy enough for a February night. Not exactly eye catching interior design, but adequate and clean.I phoned the pub at 6pm to see what time they were serving food until only to be laughed at as the landlord couldn't believe I'd asked such a crazy question 😜. He said they weren't serving food until Easter! I'm pretty sure it says 'food served' on their sign, therefore this came as drastic news as we were very hungry.Tried the restaurant around the corner, he also laughed and said they weren't open until Sunday dinner! Looked at the other pub, they didn't even attempt to satisfy the appetites of wandering idiots. So, basically the morale of this story is, do not go to this pub, hogsthorpe or even the east Coast of Lincolnshire in February if you fancy satying over and eating out. Luckily there was a kebab shop in Chapel St Leonards which delivered us a kebab and garlic bread. Not quite what I had in mind but let's face it, Chapel is hardly the centre of culinary variety, is it!?Hadn't realised just how desolate the East Coast could be out of season, despite living in this area for most of my life. Returned to visit Anderby Creek and the wilds of the North Sea Coast, which was brilliant, the accommodation was OK, but the service and choices for basic food needs, are shocking.Speculate to accumulate should be the train of thought for these establishments, maybe? If you don't cook it, they won't come! Maybe just stick to serving 12 pints of ale on a Saturday night and shut at 10.

Real pub, not many of these “watering holes” left, but this one is a real traditional pub, fantastic management!

After a family funeral we all met up at the saracens head to have a drink. We was made to feel very welcome. Will definitely visit again on better circumstances and looking at the entertainment list could be a brilliant night. Once again thank you for all your support and making us feel welcome. You really lifted our spirits keep up the good work 👍

Quality accomodation, spacious room, freshly refurbished, clean bathroom - The Old Lounge - for a good price. View to the church. A bit noisy at night as the window to the main road.

You treated a young mother and her 2yr old child awful by talking to her in an awful manner and would'nt allow her to stay the night last nite coz she arrived late and had'nt got enough money to pay for the damage deposit of £100 which she never knew about when booking through booking .com coz it was right at the end of booking form .Her friends mum offered to pay this money but got refused and spoken to in a disgusting manner saying she is not stopping here . This was 11pm . Disgusting the poor girl did not know the area . Shame on you !!!

Terri and Bryan have built an amazing holiday experience at this village pub near the seaside. Quality accommodation and food combined with a welcome that is second to none. Live music every Saturday in the season promoting local talent. I love this place.

Accommodation clean and comfy. However when we were told if you want anything just ask, so when we asked for more toilet roll we got very dirty looks. The food was terrible, we asked for MR steaks. We were asked if we wanted blood, we said we don't mind, would rather it be undercooked than over. When they arrived they were all WD, very disappointed the pepper sauce is from a packet. We didn't send them back as we were so hungry. But would not eat here. The food is not homemade the lasagne is definitely a microwave special as it had carrots in.Very very disappointed.

My boyfriend had to order 2 beers and 2 Diet Coke as it was a minimum £10 spend which was fine as we were planning to have a fair few drinks here as it was a hot day. However, the syrup in the Diet Coke had gone and tasted really weird like sparkling water. Informed the bar staff of this and he replied ‘well it’s been fine for everyone else’. I said it tasted weird and I didn’t like it. Instead of offering me another drink/ option, he replied ‘it must be personal preference’. Appalled by the lack of professionalism and to be dismissed so rudely. Left after my boyfriend finished his beers. Obviously don’t care for out of area customers. This bar member had a lack of interpersonal skills.
