Cafe Solar in East Northamptonshire

Used to be great place to eat - preCovid. Now... higher prices and smaller menu. 3 stars for location, food was ok.

Despite showing on the website that Cafe Solar at Stanwick Lakes is open, it is still closed for renovation as I discovered today when I went expecting to be able to have lunch on the terrace on this sunny day. Not even a sandwich available at the small outdoor cafe. Very disappointing.I have since contacted the organisation and a newsflash is now up on the website. Pity Cafe Solar won't be reopening till later in the autumn. The Visitor Centre is now only open at weekends.

Food was good. Large portions. Floor very slippery as made of tile. Be careful!

Nice place for a snack. Foods good and not to pricey. Nice views of the water.

We had the whole upstairs area to ourselves, overlooking the lakes, surrounded by various artefacts from the lakes themselves!Brilliant, chill atmosphere. We all had the hot dogs which were huge, came loaded with onions, and were very cheap.The staff also had no issues with us taking the mustard up to our table.

Very slow service for no reason, with 4 people working behind the counter. The ladies ordering coffee in front of us complained of this as well. I ordered a cappucino that may as well have been a drip coffee with milk. No froth at all. Coconut raspberry cake and millionaire shortbread were alright. Very disappointed overall.

Great place for a cuppa after a walk. Reasonable prices. Lovely views over the lake. Shame the opening hours are so short, especially in the summer months.

The only good thing about the cafe is the nice view. Sadly the food wasn't as good. There wasn't even any clotted cream for scones. Service was poor.

It's OK. I'm never going to like a place which feels as though they are doing you a favour by being open, and then serving you.
