It was a lovely stay in an old fashioned Inn, with a touch of the modern. Such a pretty village too. Obviously The Queend Head is quite a popular watering hole with the locals seeing as it was a late weekday lunchtime and there were still a few faces in at the bar.The staff were friendly and very accommodating and nothing was to much trouble, we wern't pressured and were allowed to relax while we waited for our lunch order of pie and chips. They served good food, good beer and a cracking breakfast. The rooms were small cottage style chalets leading down to a river frontage. They are built from the same collyweston stone as the Inn and quite sweet. A front door off the car parking area led to a small lobby with 2 doors, one leading to a good sized bedroom with all that you needed, telly, hairdryer etc and a comfortable bed complete with beautifully laundered and pressed quality hotel bedding. The 2nd door opened up onto a sizeable bathroom with the luxury of big fluffy towels and one of the most powerful and hot showers I've ever met away from home!I would definitely recommending staying here and we will definitely be returning.

Garden furniture falling to pieces. Light bite of mushrooms on toasted sough bread was the smallest ever bit of food I've ever been served with no garnish. Not worth the price at all. My daughter took me for a treat and was devastated at what we were served. Never go again....

The Good,The Bad and The Ugly!Good: beautuful location, right by the river. Absolutely lovely staff, the lady manager on duty was so nice, friendly and helpful. As were the 2 ladies running the bar. The food was good, however my starter of Pate was rather bland. We both had fish for our main which was really nice. The pub itself is nice, however check out the filthy curtains in the bar, doesn't bode well when going to eat somewhere. If the bar isn't clean, what about the kitchen??The Bad: the rooms are set outside the pub and are in a small chalet style lodges. Outside they are dirty, when the lights were on at night we had around 10 spiders hanging around our door in the cobwebs, the paintwork is shabby and needs re-doing.The Ugly: as you enter, you have a wardrobe that smells damp and musty, the bathroom has a shower, which was clean but the tiles were dirty with black grout, damp mould on the ceiling, broken toilet seat, rusty light above mirror. The bedroom, carpet was grim, kept my shoes on as it felt so grubby. Bed was passed its best and needs replacing, wallpaper coming off the wall and stains on the walls.Net curtains at the windows were dreadful with spiders, cobwebs and dead moths inside at the top by the window.Linen and towels were clean which was a bonus.Feel really sorry for the ladies running this place, they really are a credit to the place. The owner needs to invest some of the money he is earning from these dreadful rooms and re-vamp. Definitely one for "The Hotel Inspector"No way 4 star establishment. Push at 2 stars.

Staff very friendly & food lovely. Lovely setting. My only comment is that the place could do with some flower tubs & hanging baskets to make the place feel more welcoming.

Very nicely situated in an attractive local stone village in the Nene Valley, this old traditional stone built inn is compact, but does offer a decent range of in and outside dining/drinking places with the bonus of further seating at the waters edge of the river Nene at the rear of the Inn. We visited with a walking group of 20 under part lifted covid restrictions, however we were served by friendly, efficiently and attentive staff. The menu was a little restricted, no doubt as a result of covid, however this made choosing easier! Prices are reasonable and what I had was very nice and plentiful, everyone in our group was happy and satisfied and we will be making this venue an annual gathering as walks from the Inn are very pleasant and varied. Also there is plenty of parking to the rear.

Lovely inn in a beautiful country village. Grounds of the property extend to the river. Lovely place in summer to sit with your drink. We had Boxing day lunch on this occasion. Very tasty menu. Reasonably priced at £82 for 3 of us. 3 course meal each, coffee and drinks. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Staff very welcoming, friendly and unobtrusively attentive. Thank you for a lovely Boxing day lunch.
