Went to The Royal Oak to celebrate my dads 60th. Lovely lovely service, amazing food (highly recommend the sea trout) and the owner came by for a chat. Excellent pub that deserves support !

·

Friendly pub with a cool vibe. Grainstore brewery beer makes it special for me.

Fantastic stay. Comfortable rooms, great customer service and all round had a really lovely stay. Will be coming back once the refurb is finished!

I have not stayed at this hotel so I cannot comment on the facilities. My one star is simply related to communication. I have been trying for days via email to cancel a reservation I have for a twin room on the 27th April. I have had no response to my e-mails. In addition I have rung the hotels telephone number on multiple occasions only to be told the number is 'not valid'. Is this hotel still open? All I want is my £90 refunded as per the hotels terms and conditions.

My wife and I have just spent a very pleasant weekend at the Royal Oak. And I have to say the hotel was very nice. Room number 5 was clean and warm the bed was comfy. The breakfast choices was adequate we had a full English one day and pancakes on the next . We had one evening meal which was Excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely come again in the future.

Such a lovely hotel. We had a double deluxe room which was very clean, stylish, enough space for us to move around easily and great facilities. The breakfast was fantastic, there was a choice of pastries (not fresh, but still tasty), yogurt, fruit, a selection of jams and cereals and toast, you can also have a cooked breakfast which included the full English, pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, poached eggs with salmon. We both had the full English and wasn't disappointed, all of it was cooked to perfection, even the fried egg which I asked to be runny, the sausage was very tasty and the hash brown wasn't greasy, we tried many full English breakfasts when we go away and by for it's one of the best. Marcus was very welcoming, friendly and professional. I would defiantly recommend The Royal Oak.

Cod wrapped in Parma ham! I'm not usually a fish lover but this was to die for absolutely succulent, it melted in the mouth. Sticky toffee pud went down well and finished with an espresso cocktail instead of coffee. Wow! Even after two courses I was squiffy with one cocktail. ( I had had a half lager to start.) Definitely recommend. Lovely service too.

Friendly staff and not as expensive as it looks. Ideal for meet ups. It does have a jazz vibe although polo neck sweaters are not compulsory.👍

·

Certainly not the cheapest but not expensive either. As a group of 4 we found it very difficult to find fault with the service and food.We arrived for our booked table at 6pm on a Sunday and although it was a limited menu, there was still a decent choice to choose from. The Royal Oak isn't a place I'll rush back to nor recommend to friends as being one of the best around because it isn't but if you want a change then you can't really go wrong
