The Fox Inn in East Northamptonshire

We've driven past The Fox Inn on many occasions and noticed it had been closed for a while. The good news is that it has now re-opened and is building back again.We called in on a Friday lunchtime after a morning's fruit picking on a hot day. We thought we'd try The Fox Inn on the way back.We had a good, friendly welcome from the two staff on duty. Service was good throughout our meal.Unlike most other customers we decided to sit inside in the restaurant which is quite large. We had the place to ourselves. It's decorated in rather a dark colour scheme but everything was set out nicely and it was pleasant by the window.The lunch menu is relatively simple but we were perfectly happy with the choice. Scampi and Chips and Fish and Chips were duly ordered. We sat back with our drinks.There are a couple of keg beers and just the one cask ale, Timothy Taylor's Landlord which was well kept and in good condition. Apparently as their custom builds back they'll stock more cask beers. There is also a chiller with a range of bottled beers.Our food was well presented when it came, tasty, hot and not too large portions. About right for lunchtimeAll in all a good meal. We would be happy to stop here again. As the pub is on the main road it is a bit noisy but it is nice inside and the garden had plenty of tables plus a bit of shade.Examples of the menus have already been posted. 4 out of 5 stars at the moment. Been to this pub a few times since its opened and got to say I'm so glad I have a local now with such polite caring staff. I always eat after work and the food is very tasteful and not expensive and a great atmosphere. Got to meet the owner who is also very caring towards customers and always polite. Couldn't ask for more in a family local pub. Keep up the good work 👏

Closed yet again, Thursday lunchtime. Leaflet says open and no-one answered the phone even, it's no good. We won't bother again. Not sure about the net curtains or the Spiderman curtains either and the non-watered hanging hanging baskets don't give a nice welcoming. It's a shame just needs constant reliable opening times with a smile and would do well, as before

Only one real ale on the pump, which was very cloudy when poured and didn't clear. When we asked about the cloudiness we were told 'it's a new barrel there can't be anything wrong with it.' The menu was very uninspiring. I love local pubs but wouldn't call in at this one again.

Really friendly staff, very welcome warm atmosphere, will be visiting again soon for certain. Very Good food.

This is the second time we have called in for a bite to eat, and i have to say what a very pleasant experience it’s been on both occasions. Food was again excellent and we were made to feel very welcome.100% recommend this venue. Thank you.

Had a lovely meal here, everything freshly cooked, food was delicious-staff need to be a bit more present though rather than disappearing into the kitchen

Didnt realise hunters chicken could be so good. Sets a new standard for this dish.We also had fish which was also amazing.Theres a good chef in this one!

Beautiful little pub, extremely clean. Grounds are well kept. Food was lovely and quick service. Very accommodating for the little one too and welcoming

We came here for Mother's Day Lunch as a party of 5.The room we where seated was cold and damp and alarmingly the fire exit was padlocked.The beer was flat and when asked to change it the server replied "oh, yours too?" meaning they knew about this issue but neglected to inform us prior to ordering.The meals where appalling, thick, cold and gloopy gravy slopped over what can only be described as offcuts of dry tasteless meat. I was expecting loin of pork but instead received what can only be described as pulled pork, not even a spoonful, let alone a slice. The 2 roasted potatoes I received looked like they had never seen the inside of an oven and the vegetables where cold and insipid. Stuffing balls really should not be kept warm for prolonged periods of time, they end up becoming as hard as a marble. Made a great tune on the cold plate though.Desert was a strange affair too, Eton mess was simply overwhipped cream with essence of meringue, and a few bits of fruit. We couldn't actually find the meringue as it had all melted into the cream, probably due to being made up in advance, well in advance. The chocolate mousse was tasteless, and the crumble looked as though it had been grilled to heat it up, leaving a burnt flour taste in the mouth. The complimentary cheese board had some very nice cheeses, though the garnish and biscuits where quite limp. The coffee didn't arrive at all though the deal was coffee and cheese.I did send an email on the day alerting the manager/owner of our dreadful meal and experience but to this day have not received a reply.
