Thank you so much for giving us such delicious meals when we came to celebrate my friends birthday. The cod with chunky chips and salad was fantastic.

Been a very happy George's Ilkeston customer for over 10 years. Never had a bad meal. Best fish in the country, batter always crispy and never soggy.

I called for COD & Chips today at 12:30 large Cod small chips surprised at how expensive it was over £7 on my way home from heanor to Spondon , really looking forward to a fish & chip lunch on opening the box I was very disappointed chips looked like they were from the day before dry only warm chewy fish was more batter than fish chewy . It was totally disgusting even my dogs wouldn’t eat it. I usually go to Sawley Chellaston or Ilkeston depends what area I am travelling in .i have posted GOID reviews on Sawley and Ilkeston. Never on Chellaston . Ilkeston is usually spot on but has been poor on a couple of occasions over the past 15 yrs. Sawley I have had bad fish chips also a couple times but do prefer Sawley . I won’t be using Ilkeston again and I will not recommend them for good quality fish .Kath Noble

Expensive, Pie was luke warm and chips there were few. The over the top packaging just dresses up the disappointment inside. I will be sticking with the traditional local chipy in future.

Had a lovely family lunch, with the dog as well. Never disappointed when we visit. We were there so long, our dinners had settled and we made room for the puddings. 😋 Delicious. Well done Thorn Tree.

Visiting this restaurant I expected a good experience but found myself wishing I'd not made the effort. Tried the scampi and it arrived overcooked and the salad was very dumped in bowl type. Chips OK but this place is meant to be a cut above the rest but not when I visited. I think it was just lazy waiting and even when the order was incorrect the server said we had ordered what she brought instead of dealing with this better and correcting her mistake as we watched her take the order down so we know it wasn't our mistake. I sadly can't recommend going to this place as you pay good money for the meal and drinks and get poor return. Very disappointing.

We always used to go on a Wednesday evening and have a sit down eatin meal before covid struck, so this was our first time since they've reopened till 8 and the food was very nice but we were the only people in the restaurant this could be because they no longer do the evening specials so you have to pay full price .

Had lunch with a friend I ordered the finest haddock chips peas, worst I have had, fish was dry and rubbery, chips were full of black bits looked like they had been kept too long.My friend had small cod chips peas looked better still ify chips.
