"The Chequers Inn is situated in the affluent picturesque village of Stanton by Dale and is easily accessed by both Derby and Nottingham Cities with a short 6 mile drive. Dating back to 1880 it is a traditional drinking establishment steeped in character and charm. It is ideally situated for some excellent walks and rambles. Our focus is on tradition providing “ a proper pub serving proper beer with proper homemade food and snacks for proper like-minded people”. We are dog friendly and as recent as last year we were voted second in the whole of the East Midlands for the most “ Dog Friendly Pubs Award” narrowly missing out on a chance to win the title for this prestigious national award."

What can I say …. This little boozer is great,very friendly, nice range of beers , lovely decor, outside seating area is lovely and spacious. Ian & Sue are very welcoming. Also love seeing Ken 🦅 .

A perfect village country pub...We stayed at the Chequers Inn on one of their five camper van and caravan pitches. Site facilities are good with gravel areas, bark parking areas and an area of grass with picnic table for each pitch. Each has electric hook-up, plus there is drinking water and waste water/chemical disposal. Toilets are at the rear of the pub and remain open all night. There are no showers, but we knew this in advance so knew what to expect (book via the Pitch-up website).What makes the stay so wonderful is the pub, the local villagers and the welcome given by everyone. Food and drink is first-class (pre-order evening meals before arrival) and a cosy evening is guaranteed. If you get the chance to see and meet Ken, even better!Highly recommended and we are sure to stay again!

Stayed on the caravan site (Irondale) owned by the pub, which was very good. Ian and Sue made us feel very welcome. The Chequers is a village pub, but everybody is friendly. Good beer, didnt have food but it looked and smelt amazing. Will certainly use the caravan site and pub again.

The revamp really works well, very tastefully done. As always the owners are friendly and welcoming. Overall a great little pub!

Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Lovely meal brought on a tray to our motorhome. Service with a smile. Lovely!. Nice walks for dog. Nice people to talk to. Lovely pub outside. Can eat in or out. Nice seating area and a kids room for them to play. Will be going again. Order the ginger pud and custard. Lovely and soft/fresh and to die for. 🍰😊
