Cockcliffe Country Hotel and Restaurant in Gedling

Nice enough place first time I've been the drive up to it isn't very good pot holes everwhere which spoils it really apart from that it was ok

As a wedding photographer I'm usually only able to talk about work related experiences at venues, but I attended a party at Cockliffe just before Christmas and can't recommend the venue and staff enough!!The food was fab, bar prices good, bedrooms clean and comfortable and the whole team couldn't do enough for us 💖

Wow what a fantastic venue for a wedding. We as a family can’t thank you enough for all you did to make it a very special day. Nothing was too much trouble and the day was simply perfect. The room looked amazing, the food excellent and plentiful. DJ was great and you accommodated our band with ease.

Very attentive but unobtrusive staff who managed our wedding there in October 2021. They were incredibly professional but also treated us like old friends. Wedding breakfast and buffet was all delicious, and the day ran smoothly. Rooms very comfy with breakfast included. Would highly recommend

Our wedding at Cockliffe Country House on Saturday 21st August 2021 was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The staff were excellent, were always available when we needed and worked incredibly hard to ensure everything ran smoothly - we can’t thank them enough, especially Joanne and James. The whole day was really relaxed and all of our guests had a truly wonderful time, as did we. The food was excellent and everyone commented on how much they enjoyed it, the pizzas went down extremely well in the evening.Thank you so much for making our wedding a day to remember!Mr & Mrs Griffiths

Went to a wedding staff was amazing. Lovely food. Very professional staff. Andrea especially was amazing helping with our room. Would recommend a stay as in beautiful surroundings too

New management team are amazing, this review is based by a photographer's point of view, quite simply, we see things other do not.The venue and the rooms are spotlessly clean, the food is 5* and you must try the cocktails.For a wedding, you can not go wrong with this venue. The team at cockliffe will ensure your dreams are fulfilled and will always go that extra mile in making sure every detail is just right.At a recent wedding, I always ask the bride and groom and guests have they enjoyed the day? Everyone was so impressed with the venue and how the day had ran so smoothly and effortlessly.Coming from guests and the bride and groom this is testiment that your in good hands here at cockliffe.Cockliffe is also a photographer's dream, perfect mood lighting, mirrors, and twinkle lights adorn the beams inside, while outside the vast grounds provide them beautiful photos for all.I will certainly look forward to returning.

From my understanding the venue is under new management so this is an up to date review and doesn't reflect upon the old management.Of ALL the formal or even informal events I've attended in my entire life this had to be the worst managed. It's as though they just left the bride and groom keys to the building and left them to themselves.People were arriving without a clue were to go without a staff member in sight, eventually a young girl was found and put on the bar but wedding guest arriving from 11am couldn't even get coffee or water, people were arriving parched from driving from all over the country to be told no coffee and I personally waited an hour to get a drink of water.By the time the wedding started there were still no staff around and no management, although more staff had arrived they were all young students and although nice they were not the calibre of experienced staff you would expect at a wedding.The food was supposed to be served at 3pm, it didn't even start coming out until 4.30 and the quality was shocking, the service shocking, no water on tables, no condiments, some tables waited 3hours for mains, 3hours! Vegetarians were given meat, vegans meat and dairy! The food itself awful, the beef definitely from the day before. Evening guest were arriving to the same horror as day guest with nowhere to go, no bar open, nowhere to sit, whole venue covered in empty dirty glasses that had been piling up all day. I could go on and on... Awful.

Was OK for a hotel. Usually its overpriced drinks that are flat but this place served a good pint at a decent price. The food was nice. We were there for a wedding while a few restrictions were still in place but this wasn't a problem. We spent the afternoon outside in sunshine with table service which was appreciated. Staff all good and friendly. I'd recommend this place to people.
