Georges Tradition in Gedling

February 4th at 2pm.Called in to usually a nice reception, but the unhealthy looking woman behind the counter, skinny with large glasses, told us we couldn't sit down for 15 minutes as there wasn't any free tables.There were 9 empty seats, 8 of them at empty tables.Empty tables were left cluttered and dirty.And to top it all we were asked to wait outside as we were told we were in the way. What a welcome. Not the usual friendly staff we have previously experienced.So we left without waiting for anymore punishment and wet to Cods Scallops and had a lovely friendly welcome.

Nice place to sit and have fish and chips. On the expensive side though. I don't frequent fish and chips and didn't realise just how expensive they are these days. Overall a nice place, but not somewhere I'd frequent.

Service was absolutely brilliant the young girl was so polite ,we had fish chips sauces battered sausages and fish cake we drove other side long Eaton when we got home all the food was piping hot well happy , definitely recommend here ,well done long Eaton branch

The food is really nice but not very warm. Not the first time it's been nearly cold. Spoiled the meal.

Popped in for an early dinner while on our travels. This place was recommended to us and we wasn't disappointed at all ! Food was perfect. Although the photo is of a large meal and i couldn't finish it. Pricing was really fair 2x large battered sausage, chips and mushy peas for under £10. You won't find that down south. Fast service and great friendly customer service.

This is the last time we buy cold chips greasy un-cooked fish from georges. Honestly we have poor meals from longeaton and even poorer service from the so called manager sylvia. Shes a disgrace and so is the food!Its no supprise they had to call the administrators in!! Yes its gone bust

Very nice as usual. My friend & I had the Pensioner's fish/chips plus we had the bread & butter, plus pot of tea for 2. Ellen that was serving all the customers, no help, was her usual lovely, cheerful self. Not a moan from her, she deserves a medal. Obviously enjoys her job. 😊👍

Food is always decent but recently booked a table in the restaurant, arrived on time and we're told 'there's still people at your table, i can't rush them. If you wait outside I'll let you know when it's free'Anyway after 15 mins and staff allowing people to sit at a reserved table and chat, we gave up and left. Shame because the food is very good but being told to wait outside for a table that we reserved was ridiculous really

Absolutely diabolical !!! We are a regular but no more will we be going here again!!! The last 2 times we've been they have been terrible dry cardboard chips well I say chips but they are like batter bits and so tasteless!! And the fish was so poor very thin...we asked for large but they were small !! Sorry georges we won't be visiting again!!!!

It was a strange road to this place. It was the fourth place we tried to eat at (on a Monday evening). What goes on in Derbyshire that no one wants to serve food on a Monday?George's is a takeaway fish and chip bar with a restaurant at the side. It is clean and tidy and with neat signs outside it is very well presented. The presentation of the menus also reinforce this.Having been on the go all day, I ordered a large cod and chips and beans with bread and butter as a side. Yes. I am a heathen who says no to mushy peas. My mate ordered steak pie with gravy and chips. The meals both arrived on plates the same size, despite me having ordered a large meal. The fish was of average size. It was very tasty, it was fresh and the batter was also very good. Light and crispy, it didn't taste of oil either. It was not though, a particularly large portion of fish. The chips, though mostly tasty were also small in portion size. And of that portion too many were small, crispy bits. Very unimpressed by this. If you make good chips, flaunt it. Paying a premium to sit in, I expect a high quality and a decent sized portion if I order a large fish and chips. Will I return? Maybe. There's certainly other chippies to explore. A little attention to detail would definitely see more stars in future reviews.
