Patience Lounge cafe in Gedling

My partner and I visited twice on Thursday, the day of the Beacon lighting and were extremely impressed by the the display and range of jubilee themed goodies on offer, treating ourselves on both visits to some cakes and snacks. A massive amount of effort had obviously been put into the preparation of all the food and the cakes in particular looked and tasted absolutely delicious. Despite it being very busy, we were always served promptly and with a friendly smile. We will certainly be returning.

When being nearly in the countryside, the least you can do for your costumers is to be considerate. I came today from Lincoln as I was too excited to have a drink at this cafe. Although I enjoyed the magical view and walk, when I asked for a plug to charge my phone that died while walking, the manager was inconsiderate and inhospitable to my request. I needed my phone to have an Uber but she neglected to help which put me in hard situation that I had to walk to the town for 30 minutes. I was disappointed reading these positive comments while reality is not how it is. I love Nottingham and I believe that making costumers and tourists feeling welcomed is necessary.

Great location but should be a lot better - isn't this supposed to be a community cafe/not for profit? So why are they so understaffed? They're rushed off their feet. I ordered a vegetable pakora wrap from the 'specials board' today - it came in a packet and was full of E Numbers. I couldn't even eat it.

Was little disappointed having read some of the negative comments. I use the cafe on an almost daily basis and all the staff are cheerful polite and helpful . The drinks and cobs are superb and nothing is too much trouble for Tanya and her staff. Long may it continue.

This cafe used to be brilliant, it used to have lots of fresh lovely food and nice open venue.Now you are lucky if you can get a jacket potatoe..litrely!The food choices are dismal for adults and worst still for the kids

I'm puzzled about this place. Opening times are not posted; the indoor cafe was closed - so only outdoor seating - and it was really cold outside. But why is the indoor area closed? Does it open? If so, at what time? Why are there outdated COVID posters everywhere? And endless signage telling you not to do things. I think my 2 stars is generous, but the breakfast bap I had was quite nice. I enjoyed munching it while I shivered and wondered whether the place is open or not. Asked locals who were looking for a dry outdoor seat - they didn't know either. Too many questions. Such is life :)

Lovely place to go for a walk. 3 different walks of varying lengths and terrains. Loads of view points and information about what you can see (on a clear day) sculptures along each path. Nice kids play area. All ending up at the cafe for a nice hot coffee. Try their border biscuits, very nice. Yeah nice afternoon walk. Recommend it.

Always a decent cup of coffee from here. During current circumstances there is a bit of a queue and a wait (particularly on weekends), but well worth it. Can't comment on the hot food they serve, but the cakes are tasty. Will be great when social distancing is reduced as they've installed an outside seating area that's going to waste at the moment.

Left about an hour earlier than I wanted to, because the manager has closed up almost all the cafe except four tables. The cakes were put away, the pastry was out away, 3:30 onwards. I wanted another pastry, but it was no longer on the counter. The few people using it were forced to squeeze in between stacked chairs, dimmed lights and massive cleaning and sweeping going on. The last straw was a poor woman breast-feeding with two chairs stacked on the table in front of her. The manager's excuse? Of we need to clean, so we start early. That is not how any business works. If you need to clean, you stay on and clean AFTER the cafe shuts. You do not make it this unwelcoming a space before closing time. A real shame as it's a great location and potentially a great cafe.
