Proper pub! One of the best pubs I've ever been to and happy it's now my local! Lovely and warm with two fires! The range of ales, beers and spirits on offer is fantastic and the menu offers a good range of food! Regularly update the specials board to! I can see why it's a hit with the locals.

Excellent Sunday lunch, generous portions, hot and well cooked. Service was good too. Excellent value for money.

We for lunch today with my daughter she lives in Harlow and we live near Retford so about half was. This is the first time we have been but it won't be the last. The service was first class very friendly staff and the food was great as well.

Just a short drive off the A1 to get to this lovely, country-style pub where you are greeted by an open fire place and a smile.Choice of eating in the bar or restaurant areas and the food is GORGEOUS!!!Good choice of gluten free options clearly marked on the menu.Big thumbs up and 4 empty plates from my family today 👍🏻

We had a small family wake at the Welby Arms on 10 January. Great cosy atmosphere, lovely food and excellent service. Thank you for providing us with an uplifting end to anotherwise sad day.

Enjoyed a very nice lunch, eating from the Boxing Day special menu (which was varied and good). Excellent atmosphere, quite busy and a good range of real ale (my favourite), wines and spirits. Friendly, helpful staff and a warm welcome. Travelled from Peterborough (30 miles) to get here and will happily do so again.

A few minor serving errors in regards to bringing butter with the pate starter. Had the homemade chicken pie from the specials board and it was the best pie I have ever had. Way too much chicken for me but purely because I wanted to eat all the pastry. Very generous portions and a beautiful pub.

Took the wife for a bit of lunch we stood at the bar for what seemed to be an age before being served, I asked the young lady for a table for a table for two as the pub was more than half empty it wasn't a problem but it was a surprise to be told there was an half hour wait for a table can only assume they were understaffed, I had the ham eggs and chips it was excellent the wife had the vegetarian chilli con carne and loved it.so it a 5 out of 5 for the food but a 4 for the long wait.

Where do I start…. Arrived for Sunday lunch. Firstly the food was very good. The service on the other hand was shocking,we waited 40 minutes for a menu and for someone to take our drinks order. When we got our drinks the white wine spritzer was made with flat lemonade and the soda water was also flat, from a bottle rather than from a soft drinks pump. The Six or more waiting and bar staff were completely disinterested in checking if we needed anything. In short great looking pub with lovely beer garden and food but shocking staff and service. Would say the owners of this place need to be on site and shop front on what could be their busiest service day of the week. Ow and let’s not forget the minute portion of vegetables served, four slices of carrot and a tea spoon of cabbage. What a shame.
