Abbey Cottage in Harborough

Been a customer here for 7 yrs and whist I appreciate I ordered very late at night , the food was awful. Chicken in black bean tasted burnt and most definitely wasn't fresh, chicken with mushrooms was so watery. I don't think I'll be coming back. Not worth the risk when I'm wasting 30 to 40 quid a time.

I’ve been a customer for a number of years but this evening their delivery is a disgrace - inedible and therefore it’s gone straight in the bin. Waited 1hr 45 mins, food cold, trays have all leaked and split and cannot get through on the phone to resolve. A real shame how this place has deteriorated

Ordered a delivery last night. The food took 2hrs 5 mins to arrive and it could hardly be described as food - the dog had most of it. The starters were dried up and rock hard. The duck seemed like it was cooked last week and my duck main tasted like burnt offerings. The sweet &sour chicken was ok. Don’t like to give bad reviews in this climate but both service and food was absolutely terrible.

Thanks so much to abbey cottage and especially Nathan , we have just received a very tasty Chinese delivered on time and nice and hot. What was especially brilliant was the service we received in respect of queries relating to gluten free orders so helpful and clear. Even the lovely delivery driver made sure i got the gluten free info. Thank you 😊

First time ordering from here and definitely won’t be the last.All of the food was delicious, ordered duck chow menu, kung po king prawn and pork satay with two different fried rice dishes.They were all super tasty and the food was even delivered earlier than expected while surprised us, considering we are right at the outside range of where they deliver to.

The price and the food is really really good and the people working the front are nice, so I feel really bad about this review, but we’ve ordered from them 3 times and all 3 times there’s been something wrong- it’s not worth the risk unless you’re willing to eat whatever or are only ordering for one person.The first two times were on week days and within a week of each other in September, and both times two dishes were just missing, but we just let it go because we figured it was because we ordered for 6 people, and we live over a 20 min drive away.We decided to give them a chance again on Saturday 21st of Nov since we were only ordering for 3 this time, and out of 4 mains being split we were given one semi wrong dish (chicken satay skewers instead of the standard satay ordered, but that’s fine), and one completely wrong dish (something with chicken and a coconut sauce instead of Salt and chilli fried beef). Again, we live a decent drive away so we just made it work since we’d already paid, but this time we messaged their Facebook page about it- no response though, only the automated canned response. I will say that we’ve never had any issues with the vegan food ordered though, it’s always been with the meat mains and rices.If it was just the once we’d let it go, because working in a pandemic sucks and stuff gets mixed up sometimes, especially on a Saturday; but we can’t justify ordering from them again when it’s now been wrong 3 times in a row for orders placed several months apart, 2/3 on less busy weekdays

Constantly high standard. Had our regular order again tonight after not having ordered in a while. Very good service from ordering to delivery. And to top it all, a sensible business that accept cash. Thanks Abbey Cottage

Been a long time customer of Abbey Cottage and normally happy with their food, but tonight very poor unfortunately. 1hr 20 mins to turn up, and very cold. Disappointing.

Wife and I order from here as our one vice. We have sampled all of the Chinese restaurants in market harborough and this is undoubtedly the best. My wife orders a side of Vegetable Curry with either the Vegetable Chowmein or the Vegetable Rice, both without mushrooms and with cashew nuts instead. I order a pork fried rice and a peppered steak in black bean sauce. Pre-covid we've even gone in for a meal (instead of take out) and the experiance was great. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent. Hands down the best Chinese in the area.

Love the fact it's real home cooked food not a processed bean in sight..other reviewers obviously are more familiar with fast food chinese I would wait longer to be served quality ingredients. We had chicken and sweetcorn soup - delicious, Hong Kong style pork served in a tasteful and stylish mound of egg fried rice both of these servings were generous and for £9.95 each for two courses between 5-7pm it is unbeatable value. I have been to Hans on st Mary's road paid three times more and never even saw a Chinese vegetable in my vegetable side dish. I will definitely be ordering a future takeaway...and those who complain of luke warm delivery maybe have the oven on in anticipation for 5 minutes and fully enjoy this exceptional little gem.
