Enjoyed a lovely meal in idyllic surroundings. Staff all friendly & welcoming, beer well kept and the food (one homemade pie and one half chicken) was as tasty as it was enormous and great value too. We look forward to returning soon. Thank you.

On our first visit to the black horse we found it very pleasant, beautiful food and friendly staff. Would definitely dine there again in the future.. many thanks to all at the black horse.

A hidden gem with a beautiful outdoor area and tables ( although tables are sloping ) it is pure idyllic country pub , there is also a flat undercover seating area too.The views from the garden are wonderful with a chocolate box cottage in the distance and 10 to15 mins walk to the locks ,not a bad menu and staff are lovely.

Lovely lunch, great position & will definitely use again.Being almost canal-side the menu is wide in choice, albeit in my opinion limited in actual main course lunches, as it tries to cater for sandwiches right through a long list of other snack/light lunch type foods through to a few main courses, but our main courses were excellent.

Called in on a nice evening for a drink. Which was lovely in the garden looking out at the views. Decided to have some food. Very disappointed in what was presented for the price that is charged. I ordered a cheese and pickle baguette which was all pickle and no cheese!! I even had to ask for extra cheese to put in it. Which was very bland. Scampi and chips was nice but very much so on the small side for what was paid. So probably won’t come here to eat again!

Very disappointed, we went on Mother’s Day for lunch, our Son having checked that there were Gluten free options as my wife is a coeliac. The starter was fine with gluten free bread with her pateWe all ordered the burger with chips for the main course.Hers came without a bun and no chips.G/F bread for pate but no G/F for a burger bun, not told that it came with no chips. When we complained we were offered roast potatoes as a substitute, for which we were charged !!Even allowing for it being Mother’s Day the service was slow and the waiter to clear our table whilst my wife was still eating. All in all not good

Had a great lunch. Steak and Ale pie , chips, peas and gravy. Delicious. Made to feel very welcome with very friendly staff.

Absolutely loved our experience here...just got back and had to do a review right away. The atmosphere is so nice, relaxed and welcoming, every staff member we encountered was polite and so friendly. The food was perfect, the chips were gorgeous. And brownie with custard to finish, what more could I want. Plenty of parking, seating both inside and out. Might have to go back Thursday. Wish we were local. People of Foxton you are very lucky.

Booked in for Sunday lunch, we were told we couldn’t get a table til 3.30pm which we agreed to. We looked at the menu and finally got to order……only to be told no roasts left. So we ordered something else. Service was a bit slow and disjointed and my food was not great, chips were under done. Hubby’s pie was good and starters nice. We then witnessed the owner being very rude to another customer…… not good.

Wonderful lunch experience for 6 at the Black Horse. Delicious fresh food. We all enjoyed our meals. I had the sea bass which was really well cooked and tasty. Friendly, warm staff who were attentive and efficient but not at all overbearing. Lovely, thank you. We will definitely be back.
