The Black Horse Pub and Restaurant in Harborough

Very disappointed, we went on Mother’s Day for lunch, our Son having checked that there were Gluten free options as my wife is a coeliac.The starter was fine with gluten free bread with her pateWe all ordered the burger with chips for the main course.Hers came without a bun and no chips.G/F bread for pate but no G/F for a burger bun, not told that it came with no chips.When we complained we were offered roast potatoes as a substitute, for which we were charged !!Even allowing for it being Mother’s Day the service was slow and the waiter to clear our table whilst my wife was still eating.All in all not good

Absolutely loved our experience here...just got back and had to do a review right away. The atmosphere is so nice, relaxed and welcoming, every staff member we encountered was polite and so friendly. The food was perfect, the chips were gorgeous. And brownie with custard to finish, what more could I want. Plenty of parking, seating both inside and out. Might have to go back Thursday. Wish we were local. People of Foxton you are very lucky.

Booked in for Sunday lunch, we were told we couldn’t get a table til 3.30pm which we agreed to. We looked at the menu and finally got to order……only to be told no roasts left. So we ordered something else. Service was a bit slow and disjointed and my food was not great, chips were under done. Hubby’s pie was good and starters nice. We then witnessed the owner being very rude to another customer…… not good.

Just finished off a lovely day out with the family of five having a Sunday dinner at the blackhorse foxton. Everything cooked to perfection and tasted great. Thoroughly recommend.

Wonderful lunch experience for 6 at the Black Horse. Delicious fresh food. We all enjoyed our meals. I had the sea bass which was really well cooked and tasty. Friendly, warm staff who were attentive and efficient but not at all overbearing. Lovely, thank you. We will definitely be back.

Looks very warm and welcoming from the outside, Couldn’t be further from the truth when inside. Popped in twice whilst on a boating break and on both occasions found the atmosphere to be very hostile and obviously very clicky. Shame as the pub in itself was decorated nicely throughout and even offered blankets to take outside. Shame such warmth wasn’t catered for inside. Service with a smile please 😬

I had the homemade fish goujons with hand cut chips and tartare sauce. My husband chose the burger with bacon jam and both dishes were freshly cooked and delicious. Lovely friendly staff who can’t do enough for you.

We have eaten at this pub several times, food has allways been good, the landlords have been welcoming. Much better food than other places we have had locally. Nice location and view over the village. Would like to see a few healthy options on the menu especially after xmass but would recommend this pub.

Possibly the worst food I have ever eaten. Chef could not even cook a simple battered cod properly came undercooked and soggy along with the chips. The hygiene in this place was disgusting was sat near the kitchen and could hear the chef coughing his guts up and the service from the staff was next to 0 did not even bother to ask how the food was. DO NOT GO

Nice lively place with a decent menu and friendly staff. Some nice gardens for those with children. Very close to Foxton locks.
