Ayubowan Restaurant in High Peak

Ayubowan! We came to this restuarant last Friday and have to say it was so nice to see an authentic Sri Lankan restuarant in Glossop! As someone who is partly Sri Lankan and has eaten many Sri Lankan dishes in Sri Lanka, I would definitely recommend this restuarant to anyone. We enjoyed starters, mains, cocktails & desserts for a decent price.The Decor and ambience is lovely here, and makes you feel like you are in Sri Lanka too. 1 hour 10 minute wait for a delivery. Food stone cold. Shish rolling in grease. Bhaji hard and burnt. Khotu chicken reheated hard cold and chewy. Pretty bad. Expensive and will not order again. Paid 50p for online order and prices same as restaurant!

The food was delicious and the staff were really friendly. Unfortunately we couldn't try anything more than main meals on this occasion (due to personal reasons only) but we definitely want to come back for a full meal and cocktails in the future.

Lovely little spot in Glossop. Service was a highlight.Amongst the dishes that stood out for us was the devil mutton (slightly tough), the moreish Sri Lankan version of a nasi goreng and the hopper!Desserts were OK, try the wattalappam, which is a little like a creme caramel/custard flan.

Cannot find a fault with this restaurant. Very nice and friendly staff from the second we walked in. Prompt and accurate service, the food is 10 outta 10. I've never tried Sri Lankan food before but loved every bite. My missus had what she had left bagged up to bring home so as not to waste any. Highly recommended.

Nice atmosphere but the food.. I can make better and I am a very bad cook. Dry rice, curry no flavor but gave it one star because the aubergine was good.

It was our first time trying Sri Lankan food, and Ayubowan was the perfect place to have it! Lovely atmosphere, decorations and ambiance that make you feel you're in Sri Lanka.The food was delicious, we particularly loved the Calamari rings and the Kothtu (with chicken and prawns).For desert we had the chocolate biscuit pudding, a Sri Lankan recipe, and we will certainly return to try the Watalappan (another authentic desert!)An absolute gem in Glossop, thanks!

We tried here last night for the first time, we haven't eaten Sri Lankan food before. The lovely three young women serving were all friendly and helpful. There was one in particular that took the time to explain the dishes which helped us to choose and thoroughly enjoy our choices. I loved the atmosphere of the place and the food was tasty and freshly made. We now want to try the buffet that takes place on the last Sunday of the month. The lovely waitress explained it is alternated each time between the ordinary menu and a vegan menu.If you are on Facebook everything is explained on there. Can't wait to return and bring our family who I know will enjoy this fab place.
